OOC: Let's have a d20 for your army attack. I will give a bonus for the participation of the rest of the group. Feel free to post individual descriptions of your valor if you wish. If I find them inspired enough I might give an extra bonus as a way for all to participate.

OOC: Paladin attack Paladins: 1D20 = [14] = 14

It was as though Denir had been born to lead an army. Even if it was a group of paladins. It didn't matter to Gorum, what mattered was the fight. The glory of the battle. The gleam of the blade. Denir was in the vanguard of the frontal group. Not like these modern generals, but like a warlord of the old tales, fighting in the front of his men. He knew that his unit would have to hold long enough for his flanking units to get into position, and then they would wreak havoc on the enemy. Overwhelming numbers could drag down anything. Enough men could take down anything. And while Denir slew enemies left and right, it was his powers from Gorum that truly made a difference in the battle. For what did Gorum value? Glory and Destruction. And Denir spread the blessings of Gorum among the paladins by his side, allowing them to fight longer and harder. And of course the paladins in the second rank could lay on hands to the men in front, Denir added to that by powerful bursts of healing energy that spread and healed all the men around him. Denir was the beacon, the standard then, the one whom other could rally to. If a great champion came forth Denir would answer and slay the beast. The paladins by his side forming shield walls to protect him. Together Denir and the other paladins in the front ranks held the line. It was not without cost, many were injured and fell back, others fell and did not get up. But these brave souls stood against this demonic army and did not fail, did not flinch, and did not break. They fought long and hard in the heart of the battle, knowing this was their role as the cavalry wheeled around the flanks and Denir's comrades used their own special powers to sow damage farther back of the lines.

The initial clash is impressive with the Paladins disciplined ranks slashing deep into the less well organized Tieflings. Many of the enemy drop before the Paladins' blades in the first moments of combat. The attacks of the heroes bring additional destruction down on the enemy.

The Tieflings try to counter and some of them cast spells...

Despite their being badly hurt in the initial rush the Tieflings manage to do significant damage to the Paladins (6 of 16 hit points lost), though the Tieflings are in much worse shape.

Right before the battle began, Meliara said a silent prayer to both Shalyn and Desna to watch over her friends and the side of the good and righteous.

She cast armor on herself and her precious familiar, instructing the dragon to stay inside her robes unless she was quite injured.

When the battle began Lia did as Denir instructed. She stayed out of the direct battle but threw her fiery spells from afar. The sound of screaming beads could be heard over the din of battle before the large explosions lit up the battlefield, casting a red glow over the proceedings. She enhanced her spells as much as she could, using her most powerful and dangerous spells now rather than later. She targeted the largest groups of demons and tieflings, trying to avoid their own troops as much as possible.

She kept moving, making sure she didn’t leave herself a target as well.

Thorn decides to start out unattached to a unit, flanking around the conflict, under cover and in stealth, looking for high priority targets to ambush. Each unit should have a commander, she reasons. And failing assassination opportunities, she can keep recon going, making sure the paladins aren't taken by surprise.

(OOC - I dunno what Thorn can do in terms of straight up mass combat mechanics, but at least I can RP :))
