Live action Naruto movie to be made in the US

Apparently LionsGate got the rights to make a USian live action version of Naruto. They have an unknown director already lined up. http://io9.com/the-live-action-american-naruto-movie-you-always-dreade-1721992033

I'm guessing that Dragonball Evolution fan is already rejoicing.

I'm currently watching Naruto, now that they're back - AGAIN - from the filler, but mainly because I felt like I've watched so much of it and I just want to see how it ends! I used to love Naruto back in the day. I think it was when I took 2 years off when I realized that they were just showing filler and every filler story was essentially the same right before Naruto Shippuden that I lost a LOT of interest in Naruto, going for like six months without watching it, then catching up until it goes into filler, wash, rinse, repeat.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a Live Action Naruto because as with so much stuff I have HOPES that it will be could and it is entirely possible that it will be. I never saw the Dragonball movie, though Avatar the Last Airbender movie was somewhat disappointing. I'll probably keep an eye on it, but I am never going to wait eagerly in anticipation for it.

Predictions:

1) Naruto will remain blond-haired and blue-eyed.
2) Sasuke will be black.
3) Sakura will be blond-haired, with optional blue eyes.
3b) Either that or Mexican.
4) Jiraya will be an old surfer dude.
5) Kakashi will be a contemplative ninja master who would never read porn in front of children.
6) Asumi will carry a pack of popsicles around.
7) Anko will wear a loose bodysuit (and the deconstruction continues; it was actually originally ring mail on a bodysuit, in the manga, according to a quote from the creator).
8) Kiba will be one of the few characters to not be a shade whiter.
9) Naruto's "demon side" will mostly consist of him getting growly and angry, but no real danger to anyone but some knocked-out bad guys.
10) Sexy Jutsu will not feature, in any form. ...This may be an improvement.
11) Iruka will loose any "ninja edge" he may have had, and never yell at children.
12) "Bloody Mist's" graduation exam will not feature, except possibly obliquely and very subtly in Haku's backstory.

This movie is doomed before it's even produced. Some Hollywood idiot sold the idea to another Hollywood idiot that has NO IDEA what it's even about. The producers, who have never read a manga in their lives, will insist on making several last minute script changes to generalize the film, so that it's accessible to a wider audience. Read: change the characters and story so that people that know nothing about it will like it, and the fans will hate it.
And Dragonball Evolution? That celluloid pile of crap makes my nose bleed.

Did you ever read what Terry Pratchett said of his meeting with Hollywood moguls about a film adaptation of Good Omens, the book he did with Neil Gaiman? They liked the book, but wanted to cut out the character, Death...who, since the story involves portents of the apocalypse, is a major character.

The deal was not signed.

I predict that it will be produced by John Peters and will involve a fight with a giant spider.

So much negativity...

Is that better?

I know we've been disappointed too often in the past, but I'm sure there have been times when we've been pleasantly surprised and while the chances are slim that will happen, I like to hope that is what happens rather than the disappointment. I guess I would like to wait until the movie is actually out to make comments than be negative from the very outset before anything is actual being done to warrant such negativity.
