Eddicus limits his response to Vottr's joke by lamely saying, "For the introductions." He does smile when he says that, though. Then he murmurs greeting to Elmar, along with the others.

OOC: For my own purposes, I'm going to try to remember Elmar's name by using "Realm" as an anagram of "Elmar." That should do it. The whole area belongs to him, anyway: it's "the Realm's."

Apparently suddenly shy, Ivan hovers near the rear of the group, offering no recognition of any occupants of the store.

Once inside, Elmar looks at the younger man and says 'Be sure to count it all. No estimating like before, right?'
The young man puts a had against the side of his head, as if remembering a previous encounter 'n-no, master Barthen. No estimating.' With that, he head into the large room with the cart.
Elmar and the rest of you enter into a good size room with barrels and shelves full of items, such as shovels, pick and other mining supplies, plus other goods arrayed around the room. ' 'sgood ta see ya, Sildar and I am mighty glad these folks saved ya from the goblins. Where's Gundren?' He looks around expectantly.

Eddicus replies, "For that matter, where's Dougal?"

After introductions have been completed, Ed continues, "I gathered, from Sildar and from Leonan here, once they were released, that Gundren had been specifically targeted for capture, and was taken to a stronger hideout elsewhere. As far as I know, the goblins didn't say where that was."

"This presents our team with a challenge: Gundren was going to be the one to pay us for our job of escorting the wagon, but right now he can't; and he carried with him the map that makes this whole business make sense. I'm fairly sure, once we rest and recuperate, most of us are going to want to do what we can to locate our employer, so we can get paid--starting with his nephew Vottr, here."

He adds, almost as an afterthought: "I'm new to these parts. Anyone here who has any clue about a stronger hideout in this region--and a stronger one is less easy to conceal, hence more likely to be known--should feel free to speak up." He looks around at the others in the building.

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
"Vottr took a bad hit in that cave and maybe he would like to run his uncles business with his partners. He does no one any good if he dies traveling. I know the dwarves are tough, he survived what would easily kill any of us there, but there are limits."
OOC: giving Vottr plausible exit if needed :)

Leonan continues, turning toward the group.
"I'd like to go with you...I can negotiate with the best of them, my songs can immortalize you or demoralize the opponents and my voice can tumble stones as you've seen. I realize you didn't come for me, but you saved me nevertheless."

"If you give me an evening of song in the local tavern, we can learn much and maybe find some other people who know more about the surroundings who could be persuaded to lead us."

Ivan fidgeted at the back, his heart sinking and hopes dashed. "I fear that a quest into the heart of a hostile stronghold is a bridge too far for this humble researcher. If we are unpaid for our work thus far, then I must depart. Other things weigh on my mind and claim my time."

Swallowing nervously he continued, "I will return in a month to claim my back pay. And, I wish you all the best."

With that, Ivan turned with what he imagined to be haughtiness and left the group. There will be clues to the Wave Echo cave location in the goblin lair. I can feel it!

"By Clangeddin's silver beard, I aim to find me uncle," Vottr says emphatically. "And to the Abyss with any damn fool goblins, orcs, bugbears, or other nasties what to try and stop me!" He spits on the floor for emphasis, then recalling that he's in a respectable establishment, begins scraping his boot over the spot to try and rub the spittle out.
