Adventure: Echoes of O

Dawn Raven

First Post
The warlord stumbles across the room, cursing to herself. Her vision is black and it makes it difficult to see, but the rest of her senses remain fine. She glides over the floor and uses the chairs for cover from where it seems the echo is. "Alright, Ash, show us what you can do! We need to take this echo down so we can go rescue your friend."

"Seven-Rabbit! Hit that beast for me, will you? Get some revenge on my behalf."

[sblock=Commander's Strike]
You didn't say whether it has to be a melee basic attack, so I rolled one of each. If I can use a ranged attack, I'll Eldritch Blast him (better chance to hit and damage). Otherwise I'll swing my war club at him two-handed.

Melee: 21 to hit, 19 damage; Ranged: 23 to hit, 9 damage

Woohoo, I believe I hit either way!

Ah, hell, two 1's with the blast! And that provokes an OA, too! God, now I hope I'm not allowed to make a ranged attack...

EDIT: ok, melee only, and I forgot I'm flanking. So that's 23 to hit, 19 damage.
[/sblock]

Rabbit seems to be preparing another incantation, but Les's shout suddenly reminds him that there's a simpler way. He hefts his war club with both hands and spins it around in a mighty swing, straight into the echo's gut. It shatters into swirling motes and reforms as the club passes through it.

[sblock=Action Points]
Don't we get some sort of bonus for using action points in sight of Les?

OOP: JNC, you forgot to add +2 from ca due to flanking with Raiyek and Yes, you get +1 to hit if you see Les when you use an action point and use it to attack with. Furthermore Commander’s Strike grants the ally a melee basic attack against the target.

Ash and Rabbit's attacks strike true, and the Echo grimaces as it spasms in pain.

Map

INITIATIVE
Sessadore(20/27, blinded): 24
Pierce(18/24): 23
Dawn Raven(18/24, blinded): 22
Dimsdale(21/31, blinded): 19<<Your turn!
JNC(22/30): 19
Echo of Marley(Marked by Kruk, cursed, 80 damage): 17

[sblock=OOC]23 hits. A note about Marley's vault; when opened, the wall safe expands into a walk-in closet. Actually, walk-in museum would be a better term. Actually, empty walk-in museum would be an even better term. There are empty weapon racks, empty displays, empty armor stands, all marked with a small card denoting where the weapon was found and a little about the history. It's fairly big, and just by glancing in you can't see any stuff. To fully explore the closet would take multiple rounds, which I don't think you can currently spare.[/sblock]

sorry for the delay: 12 hour work day :erm:....wow! 80 hp damage and not even bloodied...we're in for a long battle

Kruk, blinded by the echo's attack, tries to retrace his steps, moving in a southwestern direction. Calling out to 7-rabbitt to get his bearings on where the echo might be, he swings:

[sblock=attack]
movement: f6, e7, to d8
attack: reaping strike: roll: (I don't know the reduction to hit for being blinded) 1d20+7= 17 for 1d12+4 = 10, if it is a miss I get 4 points damage.

save vs blindness: 14

Ooh, it's time!
[/sblock]

7 Rabbit, still terrified from thing's sudden presence, babbles something about the stars shielding him and is suddenly encased in an armour of light. He relaxes a bit, straightens up, and intones a more confident phrase in his native tongue:

[sblock=Magari]
Now get out of here!
[/sblock]

He thrusts a confident hand out at the creature... and nothing happens. 7 Rabbit shrieks again and cowers back against the wall.

[sblock=Actions]
Rolls are here. (Forgot to include the +1 from the action point.)

Standard: Armor of Agathys, 13 temp hp to me, and 8 damage to him if he doesn't move before his turn.
Minor: Second Wind, restores 7 hp and +2 to defenses
Action point: Eldritch Blast on the echo (provokes an OA), 9 to hit vs. Reflex, 20 damage. Oh, come on! Max damage, and a 1 to hit!

Ok, move him wherever you want now, I can chase him down if we want to do more aura damage. Maybe we can get him over by the blood.

[sblock=OOC]Dimsdale, is Kruk going to mark Marley? (Assuming he targets the right square, of course.) Up until Kruk's turn, Raiyek had him marked with DC.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I asked because a new mark overwrites an old one - so if Kruk marks marley, Raiyek's Divine Challenge gets overwritten (meaning it won't do anything).

If Marley continues to shift and teleport away from Kruk, I think Raiyek's mark would be better, since the damage doesn't depend on Raiyek hitting, or even being anywhere near him. Also, it appears that his AC is at least 19, which makes a mark that relies on hitting with attacks (like a fighter) less effective. In my opinion, of course :)[/sblock]
