What happened to the KQ10 thread?

There was a thread on KQ 10 today that I was going to post on once I got out of work, but it appears to have vanished. Was it moved, or deleted outright?

If it was started by Nightfall when he snuck back on, it's been automatically deleted. Feel free to start a new one.

Yeah... that'd be a reason. I vaguely recall that he'd been banned a while back, so seeing him in that thread struck me as odd.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Snuck? With a screen name of NightFallReturns and a big Scarred Lands Sage signature?

I don't know the circumstances of his ban but I was hoping his return meant it was only a ban for a year or so and the time had expired. Unfortunately apparently not.

Isn't deleting whole thread with legitimate posts without any notification for third parties a bit... wrong? Punishing other people who made posts in a good faith seems harsh.

The ironic aspect of the whole accident is that the thread was preserved by Google already (as this thread is, too).

Disclaimer: I am not out to start any discussion.

PS. Someone in charge of ENWorld traffic optimization should consider restricting Google access to ENWorld pages. Or, alternatively, optimize search by moving search features to Google instead of relying on boards.

Heh. For certain definitions of "snuck".

We don't discuss moderation, and I won't do so here. Suffice to say that he'd been told that he wasn't invited to return, and that if he did every post he made would be immediately deleted. He did, and we did.

Ruemere, let us know if there are essential posts in there. We may be able to copy & paste them.

Thank you for your offer, but my concern had to do with with ricochetting consequences.

It's just a suggestion that maybe an adjustment to moderation policy would be useful (as the existence of this thread would indicate) - something along the lines:

- whenever you delete a thread, try to preserve legitimate messages in a new thread with subject changed to:
<original subject, abbreviated to 30 characters>... [thread edited by moderator]
- threads lacking legitimate messages are not subject to this policy

In general, such policy may benefit community as a whole (it did in various places I have seen it implemented, for example in various document repositories where ISO standards are enforced).

Regards,
Ruemere
