Thebarmaid walks by on her way to another table just in time to hear Boots describe the smell of the concoction. "Very pee-quant," the dark wolf intones. She sighs as he launches into his lengthy explanation to Devlin before moving on to the, so far unserved, table in the corner where the large newcomer and his tiger wait (Tree and Kitty).

Marla forces a smile and runs her fingers through her hair. "Hey, stranger, what'll you be having tonight? I recommend the mutton." She looks back at the bar and reiterates, "The mutton. Goes with our darker beer nicely. And, thanks to certain other clients, things your friend there might enjoy are also available."

Boots looks at the halfling and sniffs the concoction dubiously. "It's ... uhhh ... pee-quant. Very pee-quant."

"Haha, you should be careful of drinking this little brew my friend. It could turn you into a cat and we wouldn't want that now would we." Devlin takes another swig of his drink and pulls out a second vile from his pouch with an almost clear, amber colored liquid. "Now this on the other hand, may be more to your liking." He pops the cork stopper off the top and allows the savory aroma to drift towards the darkwolf.

When Devlin mentions the grim woman, the darkwolf glances over at an elven woman who is sitting alone in the shadows of the corner, and who has a death's head painted on her face for some reason. Her clothing is an oddly fashionable combination of styles from Goti and deep Landadel, done largely in some sort of black leather, and an elegant black longbow lies on the table nearby. "Ermm ... getting the boss to warm up to you might be kind of ... I mean, today's probably not a good day for that. Probably not tomorrow, either. And the day after that ... well, you know, I'd just think about it for maybe a week or two and then consider your options. Or even more like a month."

"Eiy, I will be mindful of that. Even my cheerful, outgoing nature can not win over all the folk that I meet. Maybe a month or two and we will test out my theory and see if I can learn a little more from your boss"

Devlin looks over toward the grim woman in the corner and tips his imaginary hat and gives a big smile.

Tree looks around for a bit, finally realizing that the barmaid is talking to him. "... Mutton? ...Oh, no. I am not hungry. I am just waiting for someone. But my cat will have some meat. Raw if it is fresh, otherwise smoked? I thank you." Tree then continues to sit and smile at the barmaid.

Marla seems unfazed as she takes Tree's order. "Meat, fresh. Check. We got that, you can thank Kalgor and friends for making a demand for it before you stepped in the door. Anything else you need, just let me know. I don't know who you're hoping to find here, but if it's a generic 'who', in the form of an employer… those come around here… from time to time." She turns and heads back to the kitchen, then adds over her shoulder, "Just keep your eyes peeled."

Bumping into Vincenzo on her way back, the tavern's best known barmaid fields his request for mutton. She smiles genuinely, even through the weariness that results from hours in a hopping tavern. "You know, Vincenzo, sometimes I wonder about you. Now is not one of those times. Mutton with dark, coming right up!" Halfway back to the kitchen, she turns, and looks at the venzan swordsman, only to turn around and slip back into the kitchen.

Whisking through the bar with a loaded serving platter in hand, the busy barmaid delivers mutton to all hungry patrons. The cooked plate goes to Venzan swordsmen, and the uncooked plate goes to the rather feral looking newcomer and his tiger companion. She inches it onto the table before the big man, and explains, "You… can give this to your friend yourself. I don't feed the big critters," she looks back over the inn at the myriad of creatures that populate the place, "until I get to know them, at least." She collects the money and steps back, she surveying the pair and running her fingers through her hair in a self-conscious display built from years of practice.

(Were those tiny little horns on her head? It's not immediately obvious as she turns to attend to other customers.)

Foating away from the corner table, she realizes she has drink on her platter still and returns to Vincenzo to deliver it. "Almost forgot, it's better with this." Setting it down, she takes a pace, "Some nights are a little more zoo-like than others, no?"

Devlin slightly notices the pointing horns coming from the barmaids head, but figures they are more for decoration than anything else.

He continues to drink his drink as he listens into Vincenzo's words about the barmaid,"With so many various creatures filling this inn I can see your point. I can imagine travelling with such companions also would be most fun. The only companion I could have posibly brought with me on my adventure her was my old pet toad Phillipe'...of course I would have had to reanimate him first after that minor miscalculation of the ratio of volatile gulders sap with its apparent counter synthetic, tin."he takes a sip while laughing to himself about the memory,"the Old mage was quit furious at me that day for blowing up half his lab."
