Has permission been given to have the rules printed, say at a Kinko's?

I really like the simplicity and classic 'feel' of the rules, with the modern nuances of advantage, proficiency bonus, 'vancian-sort of' spell casting.

I'm going to use the new rules with the components from my Pathfinder set to run my kids through Rise of the Runelords. Should be a hoot!

So, as I go through the rules and despite all of the posts here....

Did anything actually change from the October playtest? It seems like it's almost identical with no real changes. . . .

Point-buy is 27 points, not the 30 points of the October packet.
Backgrounds give 2 skills, not 3.
Classes give 2 skills, not 3.
There are more armors, including Padded and Plate. However, Chain Mail has a STR requirement of 13; and both Splint and Plate have STR requirements of 15.
"Fire Bolt" is an actual Wizard Cantrip.
The only Cleric domain in the current Basic PDF file is the Life domain.
Elves get Proficiency with Perception, not Advantage on it.

Yeah, lots of little details.

Anyone notice the concentration mechanic?

A lot of the good buff spells require concentration and you can't have two of them running at once. Not to mention each time you get damaged you have to make a CON save equal to half the damage or it no longer buffs.

The damage element is new. That's nice! It should address some of the concerns over low saves at high levels, at least if the creature paralyzed by a hold person has an ally who can beat on the wizard.

Almost every spell has changed and lots of the classes got changes as well.

Is there no license? Copyright yes but no restriction about rehosting it? No DRM either?

Rehosting is reproduction. At least that would be my guess; I'm no lawyer.

Just finished a first read. Overall, I like it. It looks like a nice blend of good customizable options with simple-to-play rules, and a combination of some of the best traits and mechanics from prior editions. We'll see when we have the full PHB, but it sure looks like D&D to me, and looks like a win.

It helps that so much of this mirrors closely what I've done with my own OSR game. About the only thing missing thus far that I'd like are a few more fighter options, and those may show up in the PHB -- can the polearm fighter get some love? -- but they aren't really needed for the Basic game.
