D&D 5E What Classes in PHB?

I don't see why they don't. Pistols, as firearms, predate full plate armor. Now, pistols that could easily pierce full plate armor... that's massively more modern. There's a reason why, even with firearms around, metal armor persisted up through World War 1.

Plus, guns have been in 2E and 3E. Not seeing why they can't be in 5E.

Guns have no business in a D&D game. Period.

Leave yer arquebuses back to WoW and "Gunslingers" are welcome to stay firmly entrenched in Pathfinder.

No guns. Not up for debate. Non-negotiable.

I'm glad this edition lets us both play the style of game we want.

Also, negotiation is never non-negotiable.

A game with pirate ships sans cannons is a game I don't wanna play.

... nah, it's really not a big deal to me.

My opinion, though, is that if people want guns, let them have them. Doesn't mean you have to give all the town guards in Hamletburgville AK-47s. Just say your setting doesn't have them and move on.

I actually did this with the AK-47s. It was an interesting campaign, especially since they were the only ones who had the weapons. Characters ended up defeating the wizard who was supplying the weapons and ammunition... only to realize they forgot to secure the portal!

Suddenly, the ammunition became impossible to find. And they didn't have the tech to reverse-engineer it. So the bullets ended up being a heavily rationed resource. Well, up until their first dragon...

I'm really glad you don't have control over this kind of stuff. For example, if you took this stance for video games we would have never had mustadio in final fantasy tactics and that makes me really sad.

Right. Cuz goddess knows there aren't enough video games where you can shoot a gun. Better make sure it's possible in all of the Fantasy [any type of] games TOO! What are we supposed to do if we can't fire GUNS in our game of make-believe pixies!?

Again. Guns have no business in D&D. Period.

Enjoy your preferences and I'll enjoy mine.

I think we should all agree never to mention Squall and Seifer from Final Fantasy VIII in the best interest of everyone in the thread.

And some of us are saying they do have business in DnD. After all, why else would 2E have them, 3E have them, 3.5E have them, Pathfinder have them, the upcoming game O.L.D. game have them...

Now, if they have no place in your games, that's your prerogative and I can't argue that. But they do have a place in DnD.

But why would you not want options? Why is it so heinous to have guns in D&D? Even if you don't want to use them someone else would. It seems pretty damn selfish to me. Even though I don't like tieflings I'm glad they are there because if I run my game I'll just not have them as part of my setting. I would never want to just NOT have them in there.
