Why bother with print-on-demand until at least the DMG and MM portions are included?

It would still be useful as a players book for character creation and reference. And it's only $5 plus shipping.

Morrus tweeted this an hour ago. Is anyone talking about this here? I didn't see any discussion. Does anybody have info on whether this is legit or they just stole the PDF?

I ordered one. I was thinking of getting it printed anyway. It will make a nice basic player's book.

We will see if WotC puts a stop to this or not.

I would order one but I have a laser printer and have already printed it. The upside to printing it yourself is if Chuck the player spills Mountain Dew on 3 pages you can reprint them. If you use decent enough paper you can always get your own copy spiral bound if that suits your fancy. I myself am happy to have it in a round ring view binder for now. Eventually most of us will get the core rulebooks so the value of having a printed copy of basic will go down.

Unfortunately I have seen lots of different players spill drinks on the game table. Heck, 10 or so years ago, I remember an incident where a guy set his character sheet on fire from a cigarette. I am glad that most folks in my area has finally quit smoking.

Assuming that it is a non-profit printing, isn’t it free to distribute as fans wish?

Goodness, no! That is not how copyright works at all!
