Pathfinder 1E IF Paizo was planning a Pathfinder 2.0 what signs would we see?

I'm certainly not going to say it won't happen by 2018.

5E will likely be a big influence on where things stand 30 months from now, either as the new gorilla or as not being the new gorilla.

Paizo essentially reinvents Pathfinder with every new AP - that's what keeps them nice and fresh while other companies may not remain so. Each AP brings with it support products that can invigorate the brand. (And, more simply, some APs and support products will appeal to some people and some APs to others.) Pathfinder Unchained (and books like it) can be used to attract even more playstyles, allowing them to fiddle with the rules without having to invest the resources in an entire new edition.

I don't expect a 2.0 for at least another 5 years, if ever (unless sales collapse - which is hardly the case now).

The only sign you are likely to see would be Paizo telling us - because they can. And they are pretty straight shooters from what I've seen.

IMO, the best thing Paizo has going for it is its ownership. Living the gamer dream. :)

All this being said I'd happy slap down 40 or 50 bucks for an updated players handbook. They really started coming into their own with the new layouts (compare the equipment guide to the corebook and you will see what I mean) the newer layouts are really nice and I'd love to see a reinvented corebook. Hell since they have the GM guide out, I'd like to see a more traditional PHB rather than a PHB and GM book as the core book is now. It's a bit large and unweildy (sp?).

I think it might be the appearance of threads like these all the time.

I'm sure if 5e really dominated and Pathfinder sales collapsed then they would perhaps look into it. I think the likelihood of that happen though is small. Wotc has deliberately targeted non-3e players with 5e in a big way. It's far more a synthesis of 2e/4e but the emphasis overall is old school. Not to say nothing in 3e made it into 5e. It is a totally different experience though. So if you really love the 3e experience you will stay with Pathfinder. If not you'll look into 5e. I think 5e has enough 4e in it to alienate a lot of fans that abandoned the game during 4e. But not as many things as 4e itself so 5e may recover some lost fans.

5e seems really good in many ways. Where it is bad it is only bad for some playstyles and I am perceiving they are kissing those playstyles off to be honest.

I suspect Chris Perkins personally hates me ;-).

I imagine the Pathfinder Revised Edition will look very much the same with sone tighter math and other small revisions.
They'll likely streamline a little but make conversion easy, so people can update past APs, which will be a big plus.
