D&D 5E What would you put in monster manual 2?

Assuming at some point, they'll make a second monster manual for 5e, what five monsters would you like to see and why? I'm just generally curious to see what people like and why. If you want to include monsters from media or mythology that's not been covered before as well that'd be interesting (Slender Man stats?)

For me it'd have to be:

Barghests - What, no barghest love? Listen berk, it's a must.

Mohrg - I always loved these guys. They're really messed up. Odd kinds of undead are always good to stick to players. I thought these were inspired.

Banderhob - I'd didn't play fourth ed and only later was shown this creature by a friend. It looks odd, has an interesting ecology/backstory and could be really fun to use.

Draconians - I think it's time to bring them back where they belong. They've been discussed in the PH so it would make sense.

Xerfilsrtyx - The best demon. Say it lots of times.

Anyhow that's me. Not massively inspired, I could probably mention 26 more (Devourer was a close call as well) but then I'm breaking my own rules....

The better question for me is, "what, if they put it in a Monster Manual 2, would actually prompt you to buy the book?" And that's a tough one. Frankly, nothing comes to mind.

Traps and terrain.


There's enough for combat pillar, we need more exploration pillar.
I don't know... I think a title besides "Monster Manual 2" would fit a book of traps and terrain better so that people don't get tricked into thinking the book is focused on monsters when it isn't.

Ribbing aside... I can't think of what monsters I would actually want to see in a Monster Manual 2. Most of the monster on my mind right now all belong in a book titled Creature Collection because they are Scarred Lands monsters, not general-use monsters.

This. I would love an "Exploration Manual".

As far as a MM2? There's nothing they could put in it that would make me need (or want) it. I can make the one or two monsters I need that aren't in the MM. Plus, a lot of the official WOTC stuff has new monsters, so the menagerie keeps expanding without a MM2.

Same with magic items - I don't need a compendium to expand the number of items since I can make them and adventures and campaign books will invariably have new items in them anyway.

If WotC were to include their own official interpretations of the monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos (as Paizo has done), I'd buy it without hesitation. (For clarity, I don't actually mean stats for the "big bads" like Cthulhu and Hastur, even though Paizo did put out stats for those. I am just referring to the "lesser" creatures like mi-go, the great race of Yith, hounds of Tindalos, and so forth.)
 

What I’d like to see are brand-new monsters. I want wildly imaginative creatures that my players have never faced. As much as I love the old-school monsters, especially those weirdos from the Fiend Folio, I’ve got multiple iterations of them, including 5e stats.

Though, I wouldn’t be opposed to some of the Realms-centric beasts getting released for 5e.

While making monsters for 5e is pretty easy, it’d also be nice to have something like Raggi’s Random Esoteric Creature Generator.

exploration manual would be great.

But about monsters:
Aurumvorax, catoblepas, feyr (yes I like strange things)

and the great ultra blaster mega massive Zaratan!
