I Discovored D&D Later In Life Than I Would Have Liked And I Worry That....

So here is my concern ( a part of me already knows its silly) I found D&D near the end of collage and picked it back up a few months ago (i am 26) I really enjoy it but I'm worried I may lose my nerd self as I grow up and get older. Was wondering if anyone could offer any insights. I already have started to struggle to play video games (which makes me sad cause it has been a big part of my life). D&D lately has actually been my go to over games though (i find it more stimulating cause i can create, grow, imagine, and engage my mind alot more) I'm hoping that trend will only grow deeper as I age. I am growing fulfilled in many areas of my life outside my nerd self (which didn't used to be the case) I guess i'm just sad thinking If that continues I'll lose the nerd in me.

Hopefully someone can tell me I'm dumb and can enjoy fantasy into my 80's haha (at least 40's)

I'll be 50 this year. Still nerdy.

I was never huge into computer gaming, though I dabble. But my friends play all the big names. They're all a few years younger than I am. Most have kids. Some have kids old enough to start gaming...

I, too, lost interest in video games, but I have never lost interest in table top roleplaying games. I had to wait until my kids were old enough to play though, because it is difficult to find people my age who have the time or inclination to play. I am 51-years-old by the way, and we will be playing D&D for my 52nd birthday party. My group is me, my son, and my son's friends.

I was 29 (and D&D was 10) when I first sat down to play the game. Mind you, I kicked myself then for having not started playing it when it was new.

I didn't pace myself well as a DM over the next 4 years (trying to create too much game world information) and burned out. Couldn't keep my mind off the game, although it took a dozen years to get back to playing it.

Picked up playing and running it again 17 years ago and still lovin' it in my 60s.

I started with AD&D 1e when I was 18 and am still playing at 54 (in a few months). I doubt I've ever gone a month without playing an RPG or miniatures game and still play weekly. I wouldn't stress over it.

But he's not playing D&D ;)

Miss ya Gary!

I am also approaching 50. I took about a 10 year hiatus from around 16-26 years of age. But I found my way back. Introduced my son to gaming about 7 years ago and he's 17 now. And I am starting up with my little one...she is 5.

I'm a bigger nerd now than I was as a kid.
