Okay so I am a hexblade warlock and the people who I have defeated... and this is the only way I know how to describe them so I'm sorry.. it's mostly because he didn't describe them himself.. anyways the 3 people who are with me in this entire battle arena along with an entire army on my side which we have to go into a castle... this is what he said as a powerful mage who is holding the event... "The attackers job is to lead their small army into the castle that will be provided while it is the Defenders job to defend an artifact that the attackers are trying to get." Anyway... the 3 people who are with me is a warlock who is good at being sneaky and hiding... I believe a illusionist warlock or just an illusionist and a sorceress that likes fire... sorry guys that the best discription I have because I don't know how to strategize...

By the way, I have a circlet on my head that allows me to cast scorching ray and it is extremely powerful. I only have one cast a day for it... and I haven't used it yet for this day. I have a belt of hill giant strength, which I use to carry around my great sword with one hand. I have 5 healing potions. I have a noble cane along with me... and I have a dagger that when I rub the snakes head the blade of the dagger puts poison on itself. If y'all want to know my spells and cantrips I can tell you them too... though some of them aren't useful for battle.

So I'm going to do you a favor and tell you the secret to the dragon fight. Listen closely... Just play it out and see what happens.

Do your best and try to enjoy the experience of fighting a legendary creature of myth from your own perspective. D&D is not about whether you win or lose. You are not playing against the DM, you are playing WITH the DM. you will do cool stuff, the Dragon will do cool stuff. Don't limit yourself with expectations. It sounds like this is your first time fighting a dragon in D&D and you should just enjoy it for what it is. If we tell you step by step how to kill it then we are robbing you of the experience. Just try and think of it from your character's perspective. What do they know? What resources do they have? Then do the best with that information, trust your DM, and hope the dice treat you well.

D&D can be fun in victory and defeat.

I need a strategy for the battle here in the arena... I want to win the arena so I can get to the Dragon Hoard... if I lose that's the end of the DND... our dnd has been going on for an entire year, it's huge role play. I mean huge... my characters soul is over 15000 years old and is the hero of this... so if lose here then I'll have to go on another life... which is like a reset... by reset I mean I'll have a completely different body and everything blah blah blah blah... but I don't want that right away I want to be able to go to this Dragon Hoard and explore it. You see I have a big imagination, comes with my mental disability and sruff so I enjoy doing what I really set my heart to and what I want is to win this battle in the arena so I can have more fun in furthering in thid role play. Plus that way I can finally be level 20 which I've never been able to do because I'm bad at strategies lol and so I die... atm 10th level warlock is seriously the highest I've ever gotten.

Okay I guess no one wants to help... lol that's cool too whatever

To get a decent answer from any of us:

1) Tell us what's going on.
All we know is that you, 3 other characters that you've somehow beat, and a small army(? or are those 3 others the small army?) are headed into a castle/underdark arena & the prize is huge.
And we know your spells + 4 magic items.

What we DON'T know is any details about your opponents, the map, or really anything about your 3 allies/small army.
This makes it virtually impossible to give you any type of strategy.

2) Give us time to answer. Give us the info & wait about a day so that people can see your post.

*Start your arena battle after a long rest so that all resources are full - HP, spell slots, etc.
*Use your Contact Other Plane to try & discover what you'll be fighting.
*Focus all fire/attacks on 1 target until it drops. Then attack the next target. Repeat as needed.
*If the enemy can cast area effects? Don't stand near each other.
*Bring even more help if possible. Hire soldiers/goblins/etc - whatever you can. Any $ spent is minor compared to how much you'll get. And you don't have to pay anyone who dies (or can loot their bodies & recover the $)....
Equip them with bows & have them mass fire on one target until it dies.
*Don't die.
