Hi folks! We've received a DMCA takedown demand for this download from WotC's lawyers. I've already let ForgedAnvil know. I'll be dealing with it when I get back to work on Monday. Just keeping you all in the loop.

Of course, there goes another great tool. Just like Orcpub. They ought or offer ForgedAnvil a :):):):)ing job for doing much better work than any of the tools WotC makes available. I guess we always knew it was only a matter of time before the corporate hammer came down. Thank you ForgedAnvik for your contribution, you rock!

Seriously?

This character sheet/tool has been amazing. So amazing it has 1.2 Million downloads. That is 4x as many as the others. Is WOC asking for them to come down? What part of this sheet is against the DMCA? Is it the fact it is for the people that pay WOC their money, buying their products to play their game? Would this not be a good thing for them? I, for one, would like to see this Character Generator continue and be available. It has made the game fun for me and makes sure I don't forget things.

ForgedAnvil... Thank you for all of your work. Please send me 2.28 when it is out of Beta.

THIS IS UTTER AND COMPLETE BS!!!!! Forged has spent his own time in developing a character sheet that works extremely well with D&D 5th Edition. Forged is a inventive and extremely talented, to create a digital character builder using Excel.

But, I guess since D&D released their online digital character creator D&D beyond, they think that people shouldn't use homebrew character sheet, created from 3rd party creators. Forged isn't even charging for his CS. He is asking for beer donations!!!!

FFS WotC, let the little guy create content!!!!

I see all the emotional responses and thought I'd throw in a more levelheaded one(Trust me if I say this has cost me some time to get too, I'm with you guys on opinions).
First off, I really like the sheets and I am totally using this for all my characters and players(I hope he has enjoyed those beers on me).

That said, I do think that the reason WotC did the DMCA is linked to them having D&D Beyond. The problem in this is that they have to sue people. This is due to how (from what I understand) the American Copyright Law works. If you do not defend your product in time you will lose any rights to claim said copyright.
Now, I'm not sure that they did this out of that reason, but I am sure they have to defend this, and like ejsilver26 has noted, this is the most popular sheet. This means it is their primary target.

I just hope that Forged can salvage some parts(or better yet, everything) of this wonderful sheet, I will be really going to miss using it at the table(besides DDB not nearly being ready and on the same level as Forged)

While I let me emotions come into play, I agree with you that the DMCA is due to D&D Beyond. Forged isn't making any money off of the CS, so I not sure how it is a copyright issue. Either way, I still think it is crappy what WotC is doing here. If they are going to target Forged with a DMCA, then they need to target all homebrew D&D content creators with DMCAs. Yes, I am talking about those DMSGuild.com and here as well.

I would have used D&D Beyond if I could unlock all content through a monthly subscription. I don't want to have to drop the full book price for all new items. Or for one class feature having to make a decision to piecemeal purchase upgrades or buy the whole book. I subscribed to the last tool they had for 4e and loved it. Always up to date, never had any issues with it. I think they would have more users if they hadn't pushed the service the way they did.

Thanks for all of your hard work ForgedAnvil. Much appreciated. I'll try to use 2.27 as long as I can.

I agree with your comment. Utilizing D&D Beyond in my opinion is expensive will be expensive. There are those that already purchased the different handbooks, guides, manuals, etc...; and to have to purchase them all over again just to utilize their content is ridiculous. The subscriptions that they offer don't even include any of the content from the books, those have to be purchased separately!!!!

I just want the material to create a character and that is what Forge's CS gives me. Lets not forget that you need access to the internet in order for you to access the D&D Beyond website.

All in all, Forge's CS is 1,000 time better than anything that WotC has to offer.

This is not true. There is no obligation in any jurisdiction to sue people.

Ridiculous business practices again from WOTC.
Thank you ForgedAnvil and everyone else that made this character generator the best one around! I hope you will find another way of making this character generator available to others again!
