TUW: Welcome to the Jungle

Saemund nods at indigo, "Then I will keep it handy."

Saemund begins analyzing Way Lines to search specifically for copper and Sunstones as a daily task, whenever the group stops, and other items that are known to increase persona, cognizance or Psyche.
GM: While looking through the party's unclaimed inventory, Saemund discovers that an ingot of Tin could be used in the same manner as the Sunstone, and the party has 13 in total.

OOC: Add these to you character record or let me know if you want them and I can do so. Tin has very little monetary value and would be of more benefit to the party when used as a conduit.

Day 236: Continuing to Travel

GM: Merin, who had previously been pursuing cartography, is still the best among the party at gaging distance compared to time. He estimates that it will still be about 11 days before reaching the main river that runs from the jungle to supply Asylim with water. Its headwaters are where the silk collectors should be.

[sblock=Passive Awareness While Traveling]
Perception:
Effectiveness:
  • Konokoro (Collegiate Task) +
  • Mind + Knowledge ++
  • Commercial + Obscurative
This passive technique represents noticing patterns, anomalies, or dangers in the immediate area due to seeing or hearing things subconsciously.
Sheldon: 39(konokoro) + 37(perception) = 76 +30(d100) = 106
Tor: 26(konokoro) + 36(perception) = 62 + 66(d100) = 128
Merin: 33(konokoro) + 31(perception) = 64 + 70(d100) = 134
Indigo: 28(konokoro) + 37(perception) = 65 + 76(d100) = 141
Sannit: 33(konokoro) + 33(perception) = 66 + 33(d100) = 99
Bolo: 28(konokoro) + 37(perception) = 65 + 63(d100) = 128
Turtle: 27(perception) x4(smell) = 101 + 81(d100) = 182
Saemund: 29(konokoro) + 31(perception) = 60 + 72(d100) = 132
Feroz: 18(perception) x4(vision) = 72 + 62(d100) = 134
Vadin: 28(konokoro) + 32(perception) = 60 + 80(d100) = 140[/sblock]
Day 236:
The dawn breaks already hot and raining, with no breeze. Sheldon, Sannit seem preoccupied in thought since they notice nothing more than the flitting of small birds, insects, lizards, and spider webs. Tor, Merin, Bolo, Saemund, and Feroz happen to observe all of this plus some medium-sized birds. Feroz picks off a one, during the day, to consume. Indigo and Vadin spot some larger beetles munching away on what appears to be some long dead animal. Turtle sniffs out the location of a lizard about the size of a man's leg, hiding in a hollow log.

GM: Looking for stones, Indigo finds a white stone with black streaks through it that feels wet when held and rubbed with fingers. Saemund comes across a piece of flint.

Looking for metal, Sheldon finds an ingot of Chromium, Tor comes across 2 ingots worth of Zinc, Merin locates 3 a rock containing 3 ingots worth of Zinc, Sannit comes across an ingot of Lead, Saemund locates a rock containing 3 ingots worth of Zinc, and Vadin finds an ingot of Magnesium.

Looking for usable plants, Bolo and Indigo only find edible leaves.

When Indigo and Vadin point out the larger beetles, Sheldon thanks them and attempts to take at least one.

Merin and Tor will each try to take a beetle.

During travel, Tor will continue to concentrate on trying to locate metal ores, especially iron.

The GM said:
"...Merin, who had previously been pursuing cartography..."

OOC: Merin is still pursuing Cartography. Thanks for reminding me.

During travel, Merin will continue trying to improve his cartography skills, by carefully mapping out their journey, making note of significant landmarks.

Vadin will investigate the magnesium more. If he cannot find out more about it he will ask Sannit for assistance.

During travel Vadin continues to hunt. He attempts to manipulate way in helping him sense an animals presence and then practices moving quickly and quietly in dispatching said animal.

Day 236: San-Bolo

Sannit will investigate the lead with metallurgy.
[sblock=Metallurgy]Effectiveness:
  • Konokoro (Divination Task) +
  • Mind + Knowledge ++
  • Commercial + Mercantile
Time = 1 week * complexity / (Effectiveness + d100)
This active task is applied to the identification of various metals and their strengths. It is also applied to the manufacture and identification of alloys. The result of the effectiveness of this task is determined by the rarity of the metal as translated by the GM.
Sannit: 33(konokoro) + 33(metallurgy) = 66
Time: 1 / (66 + 92(d100)) = 1 hour, 4 minutes[/sblock]
GM: Having never before come across a piece of lead, Sannit is intrigued to find its usefulness. As it so happens, lead's particular proclivity is simple. In just over an hour's study, Sannit determines that lead can be used dissemble the essence of life in another and nothing else, making it a rather harmful metal.

OOC: Lead: Dissemble x2

Kwargrow said:
Bolo will help take one of the beetles.
GM: Bolo and Sheldon simply manipulate Way to each take a beetle.

OOC: New Collections: 2 pair yellow beetle elytra

Kwargrow said:
Turtle will eat the lizard.
GM: Once turtle sniffs out the lizard hiding in a hollowed out fallen tree, he proceeds to antagonize the reptile in true bear form. He bounces his front paws on the log, shaking it back and forth. The lizard, at first is unsure what to do. It curls back upon itself and changes direction of flight within the confines of its hiding place, twice, before darting out one end.
Afterwhich, the chase is on. Turtle tears after the fleeing lizard barreling through the jungle after his quick meal. The sight brings tears of laughter to all the Seekers but almost panics the horses. Indigo continues to laugh even has she calms the skittish mounts.
Turtle, able to out think his quarry, finally catches the elusive lizard, then proudly brings its kicking corpse to show Bolo, looking for her approval before consuming it.

Day 236: Vadin

Vadin will investigate the magnesium more. If he cannot find out more about it he will ask Sannit for assistance...
GM: Though other members of the crew are aware of the proclivity of magnesium, it is to the benefit of each individual to learn the feel for himself. The others nods at Vadin's endeavor, choosing not to interfere unless he says that he needs help.

GM: As it happens, Vadin does not require any assistance. In just under 3 and a half hours, it occurs to him that Magnesium augments the willpower of its bearer and can be used to restore the paranormal loss of such.

OOC: Magnesium: Will ++, Harmony x2

Day 237:
The dawn breaks already hot but not raining and again with no breeze. Sheldon and Indigo seem to pay more attention to one another this day than their environment. However, late in the afternoon, they do notice some medium-sized game birds congregated in a tree. Merin is the one who happens to see some sign for pod of beetles. Tor, Sannit, Bolo, Saemund, and Feroz, all at different times, see evidence of the passage of medium-sized reptiles. (only about the size of a man's leg). Turtle discovers a web-laced burrow, but seems reticent to further investigate it. Vadin discovers a game trail used by tapirs.

GM: At this point, no game has been collected for the day.

GM: Looking for stones, Indigo discovers a lump of coal. Saemund comes across a rock of slate that appears to have previous been worked to fracture pieces from it. (Like flint, slate is used by indigenous peoples to make weapons.)

Looking for metal, Sheldon finds a rock containing 5 ingots worth of Zinc, Tor comes across a rock containing 4 ingots worth of Lead, Merin locates 2 ingots worth of Tin, Sannit, again, comes across an ingot of Lead, Saemund locates a rock containing 4 ingots worth of Tin, and Vadin finds a rock containing 16 ingots worth of Zinc.

Looking for usable plants, Indigo and Bolo, both, discover a measure of Leaves of Restoration.

Sheldon and Indigo quietly bring attention to the covey of birds with their intent to each take one. Sheldon collects the 5 ingots worth of Zinc, and Indigo retrieves to lump of coal, placing it on one of the pack horses. She conveys that she does not need any more Leaves of Restoration and passes on them.

Since the coal is useful for smithing armor and weapons, both Merin and Tor will try to use it (with Indigo's permission) to find more where that came from.
