Knowing that Feroz can't see through canopy, Saemund (in the best way possible) communicates to Feroz that he should fly below the canopy and warn the party of anyone who approaches unseen.

Saemund allows the Deviard to walk past Indigo, so that Indigo can easily dispatch the enemy. His consciousness cringing at the duplicity of the action, yet at ease knowing the action saved the lives of his friends.

Saemund will also search for nearby Deviards, and repeat the attack on their mind.

GM: Feroz, from his nearby perch, nods his head like a person would in acknowledgement. He flaps his powerful wings and diverts westward looking for enemies. He cannot soar like he would prefer, but he is able to stay above the undergrowth and periodically land on other tree limbs. Just before Saemund is able to sense the enemy in front of Tor, Feroz calls his location. The Seekers may no be able to move directly there, being confined to the paths due to the undergrowth, but hearing the calls gives more definites for distance.

Merin will attempt to paralyze the Deviard that is closest to Tor.

GM: Burning through the groups only ingot of lead, Merin can sense that it was necessary to overcome the Deviard's resistance and fully paralyze him. Those of the party with the greater ranges of divination can perceive no further enemies within range. After a couple of seconds for everyone to catch their breath, Feroz calls twice from much farther up the incline toward the suspected Deviard village. Suspecting nothing more than a mundane bird of prey, the Deviard categorically ignore the hawk.

Bolo will move to the front close to Sannit, but she will make herself small and less noticeable, keeping an arrow nocked and ready on her bow.

Merin adds, “Besides, we can’t take on the whole settlement at once. We’ve dealt them a serious blow, and I doubt they’ll be bothering anyone for awhile. I will draw a marker on the map I’ve been keeping, which warns about these two settlements, and their inhabitants. When we get back to Southroad Fair, I’ll make sure that copies of it get distributed, so that travelers know to avoid the area.”

Sheldon runs his left hand through his hair, pulling it back from his face.
"I would say we are evenly matched, which would mean significant damages on both sides. I am with you. Let's take our pay and move off to heal our wounded."
Indigo upon hearing Sannit's proposal and Sheldon's answer, sheathes her swords and strips the dead Deviard of his weapon and bracers before returning back up the path to rejoin the crew.
Merin and Tor both nod in agreement.

Days 238 - 242: The Jungle

The party retrieves the bricks of iron and the bag of tin before returning to where the Windrunners had been left. The party collects their horses and moves back into the jungle to follow their original path to their desired location. Once the injured have recovered, the party travels for three more days before coming to a river flowing eastward from a lake at higher elevation. The silk collectors from Asylim will not have crossed this river to be on the party's side.

During the three days, the party does not encounter anything out of the ordinary. The typical animals include medium birds, large beetles, medium reptiles, hunting spiders, and large varmints. The second day brings a violent encounter with another clan of the sociopathic Katalians, which are quickly killed or routed. Less commonly, large birds, small game animals, and small predators are seen.

The river is surprisingly cool for a jungle, bouncing over rocks and swirling around turns in its rapidly steep decent. A few eddies and small pools show the water to be clean and clear with a gravel bottom, typical of a mountain stream.
GM: The party will need to decide if they will travel upland toward the lake to get around the river, or downstream to find a place to cross. The current location could not be crossed by the horses. Additionally, any particular desires or queries should be included in posts.

"I agree. Let us head upstream and see what manner of lake this will prove to be. Since I think that my tracking and divination are improving, I will help Sheldon and anyone else who wants to look for game while we travel."
