WotC WotC general D&D survey just went live.

Totally agree. Surveys like that weed out most people. They either get the most diehard fans or the most disgruntled. So the data from these surveys has a strong bias and probably doesn’t represent causal players at all. But casual players don’t spend as much either I suspect.
And yet casual players are the one they design the game for. Go figure.

A D&D farming simulation videogame shouldn't be very hard about the lore. It could be a domain of delight within the Feywild, with a lot of halflings and gnomes, but if you want something with more survival touch, then I advice a Dark Sun survival where the main character is a fugitive ex-slave. Birthright could be perfect for a stronghold management/economic strategy/city-builder videogame.

* What if Epic Games creates their won VTT for Fortnite: Creative Mode 2.0?

* Before I (almost) only played Fortnite, but after some bugs I couldn't load the game, then I stopped and now I only play Shop Titans, a shop management simulation.

They pretty clearly don't care about older anything (editions, products, players) and haven't in a while.
Youre right. and I suspect there probably isnt anyone on their staff that could design any product for any edition other than 5E/1D&D. Hell they can barely design a good 5E product.

I’d say Perkins could, he’s been writing since 2e days for every edition. Everyone at some point gets tired of an edition…that one thing like THACO or huge pluses to hit from 3e day gets on their nerves to the point it drive them game batty. Play what you and the group enjoy and find something enjoyable and new.

Think I basically said I don't think D&D is for me anymore. It's too simple and too safe. It doesn't present any interesting challenges in character building or once the character is in actual play. At least that's what 5E feels like it wants to do (to me), you can make it more challenging and complex, but you are working against the system then, rather than with it.

Well, it glitched out on me about 75% of the way through, not going through all of that again. I do have some notes, however:
  • Hasbro still seems incapable of understanding that there are things happening in the RPG community that don't revolve around D&D.
  • Did they really need to have a separate page/question for every single product? Certainly the "accessories" could have just been in a "select all that apply" list.
  • None of the sections where they ask what you like or prefer seem to offer any option other than the current 5E-isms.
  • Listing Paizo as a 3PP is... an interesting choice.

When 5E came out I liked it in theory but the more I played/DM'ed it I started to dislike it until I got to the point where I dont think I'll play it again. 3E was a great step forward to eliminate AD&Ds hodgepodge of micro rule systems, innovative and I think it didnt overstay its welcome. For me with this upcoming "new" edition seems too much like 5E to be considered new and different enough to catch my interest, though I wish it was. In all fairness the new edition is still ~18 months away Id guess so hopefully Im proven wrong. I was just hoping for a more extreme change in the rules i.e 2E to 3E or 3E to 4E. We're playing 2E now and are happy with it for the time being.
