Three new Star Wars movies

I don't think that's exactly what they're doing, though, given the 15-year time-skip and "academy"-type setting. I suspect she'll be Gandalf to a bunch of new recruits, who will be the primary heroes. It'll be pretty funny if they make it in the next few years though - Daisy Ridley hasn't aged and won't in that time period, certainly nowhere near 15 years. I guess they'll give here a severe-looking haircut and rely on that to age her up lol?
It does sound like you're right. But who knows what it will actually be if and when it actually makes it to screen. Hollywood infamously has no respect for a project's original vision whatsoever. I'm just reading the news on that production as Daisy Ridley being attached for another Star Wars movie. To a lesser extent I read it as news of the director being attached, but Disney Star Wars has a long history of firing directors at this point.

Thoughts.
1. Thrawn movie. Depends in Mandalorian and Ahsoka events. Mildly optimistic.

2. Jedi origin story. Eh see what happens. Indifferent.

3. New Jedi Irigins. Hmmnn sequel movies still suck. Back of mind Rey stealing Luke's arc from legends. Blech. On the plus side Dausy is a decent actor. Mildly negative but it's not impossible they can turn it around. Clone Wars saved Anakin and Ahsoka wasn't so great early on as well. Not sure if the can fix the stench of Rise of Skywalker. How do you develop a villain for Rey to overcome in one movie? They didn't say she's the lead character so see what happens.

Let's face it: Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney came at the wrong time. Disney of course wanted to put their stamp on the franchise as soon as they got it, which is why we got the sequel trilogy when we did ... but if they'd waited till about now to do some sequels, we could have had believably de-aged / deepfaked Luke, Leia, Han, etc gallivanting around the galaxy in their post-RotJ prime.

Tgat woukd be really expensive though.

I think they could still have made it work with a slower release schedule (4 vs 6 years) or even as late as post TFA.

No one was to salty after TFA. But after the PT maybe a faster paced playing it safe type movie was fine. They could even make Palpatine coming back work cloning opens up all sort of silly things. Thrawn could have been the main villain things like that.

At its most basic Han and Leia have kids/got married, Luke reestabliges the Jedi. Reys his star pupil/Jedi Knight.

They also marketed it as the Skywalker saga and killed them all off. Oops. Even if they burnt down legends they're busy mining it now probably should have done that further back.

Just seems they did things that even at the time were questionable eg canceling clone wars (only to backtrack later).

Give the OT heroes a happy send off pass the torch all they had to do. That's it basically.

It was predictable with Disney.

Has anyone seen Disney (when as pure Disney, not a sub company) make a movie off another property?

Sleeping Beauty (I don't recall the dark fairy turning into a dragon and imprisoning the prince in that story), The Little Mermaid (doesn't that one end with her dying and the prince marrying someone else?), or even the Frog Prince (I sort of don't recall it happening in more modern times or with a voodoo witch doctor and such).

Disney NEVER sticks to the storyline established or follows through with what the stories origins are. They always use the story for inspiration and then make the entire thing up! They don't care about following whatever it was originally like, they have to make up their own thing inspired by the original.

This is exactly what happened with Star Wars. They never intended on following the storylines set from before. Those were more like...vague guidelines for inspiration on the story that they would create...

I'm wondering when they'll go make the live remakes of the films they made before...should be interesting to see The Force Awakens as a live action film...perhaps it will have even more CG than the original even!!! (yes...that's a little snark there).

It basically writes itself!
Rey Skywalker has vanished. In her absence, the vicious TRUE DECREE has risen from the ashes of the FIRST ORDER and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed.

With the support of the REPUBLIC, Admiral Poe Dameron leads the brave DEFIANCE. He is desperate to find his friend Rey and gain her help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy.

Poe has sent his most daring pilot on a secret mission to Crait, where an old ally has discovered a clue on Rey's whereabouts.

Unless it's a big twist.

The GALACTIC REPUBLIC has plunged into disarray. Opposition to the tariffs on commerce in outer provinces of the Republic has arisen. Venturing to solve the issue on their own with mighty warships, the insatiable BUSINESS ALLIANCE has blocked all travel to the minor world NU'BAA. As the SENATE of the Republic appears perpetually stuck in its squabbles over this threatening escalation, REY SKYWALKER has send out two Jedi Knights, vanguards of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict.
Ah, well, we'll see...

The less they deal with the specifics of the last sequels, the better chance they have to maybe create something decent again.

why did they call themselves the First Order
This has been established in some of the ST prequel novels apparently. Basically it's shorthand for "The first order of business". That is, the first order of business for the Imperial remnants, according to Palpatine's contingency plans, was to regroup in the Unknown Regions and rebuild their strength. Once they'd wiped out both the New Republic and the Resistance, it was time for Palpatine's "Final Order" (the hidden Sith Fleet) to impose Sith rule over the galaxy permanently.

Like Daisy Ridley, Meh concerning Rey but not interested in a continuation of the current "Skywalker" movies whatsoever after the way Lucasfilm played Finn as a character and as a Jedi.

Really what they need if they are going to do this is have a clear vision through the whole trilogy and have each movie serve a clear function in a three part story
Quoted for emphasis.
Should have been a bigger thing for the sequel trilogy - should be the mantra of any movies coming up that intend to be serialized in any way, trilogy or not.
