D&D (2024) Elves without racism [+]

True but a culture-wide animosity is pretty common and species and culture have been pretty much the same thing in D&D.
I feel it should be a setting by setting thing. Dwarves and elves don't hate each other by default in a vacuum. However in a particular setting their cultures or nations may be hostile to one another or even openly at war.

For 2024, my preferences is, the Players Handbook makes array standard, with the stats: 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10. (So I dont need to deal with negative bonuses.) Then move both dice-rolling and point-buy to the DMs Guide as variant rules, where the many players who like these options can continue to use them.
I would like to see point buy as default, and array as option for people that cant be bothered with 1st grade math.

Gnomes are the halfling equivalent of elves. Goblins are the orcish equivalent of elves.
Heh. That might be the first good reason for Halflings to exist in D&D.

So youre saying,

Elf : Human : : Gnome : Halfling : : Goblin : Orc

That kinda works.

The Human, Halfling, and Orc are the biological creatures who evolved in the Material Plane. The Elf, Gnome, and Goblin are the Fey spirits who are their fans ... who are effectively cosplaying as them!

Maybe the larger Hobgoblin came first, more closely resembling the Orc. The smaller Goblin had the Gnome in mind, maybe starting off as a rival, yet remains enthusiastic about the Orc. For some reason, the spooky Bugbear got fascinated with Bears.

I would really like to have "small" species removed as PC options and put into DMG and MM as NPCs or opponents.
Or have them with real penalties for being small same as large species have real combat advantages over medium sized.
ngl, with the changes in the latest 1dnd playtest, I'm questioning the need for a division between small and medium anymore. Every single difference is being removed one by one over time. At this point just merge them into a single size category. They generally already use the same base size anyway.

The Human, Halfling, and Orc are the biological creatures who evolved in the Material Plane. The Elf, Gnome, and Goblin are the Fey spirits who are their fans ... who are effectively cosplaying as them!
Meanwhile my homebrew setting has almost every species as having evolved semi naturally... :ROFLMAO:

Can't have penalties in the new D&D it makes people sad.
Long gone are the days where a player would roll up Bob the human fighter with two words as his entire backstory. Then march him into a dungeon only to die at the first obstacle. Then next session roll up with Rob the human fighter and do the exact same thing.

Certain dungeons were apparently a new character per session with how brutal it was. Very different from modern DnD where every character is a superhero from the start.

For the Skyey trait of the Sun Mythal, I removed its "At Higher Levels". It uses an Action to drift 10 feet in any direction.

When I see what level-8 Feats look like, it is my intention to create one that grants a Fly Speed.

For Magic Resistance, I think the following can work out balanced. It is an extrapolation from the Gnome Cunning.

ELUSION MYTHAL
Level-4 Feat

Prerequisite: Member of an elven community

You slip between the nothingness to evade the eldritch harm.

You have Advantage on all Dexterity saving throws versus magic. Magic Attacks against you are at a Disadvantage.

WARD MYTHAL

You will magic away.

Magic Resistance. You have Advantage on all saving throws versus magic.
