System wars I will tell you right now, as a new adult DM, I would love a system that combined D&D 4th's easy to read layouts with Pathfinders dizzying support materials. All those map folios, card sets, and tied together adventure paths make me pine for Pathfinder, without even ever playing it.

So these cards look very useable in 4th edition, but the DC values seem all over the place. Does Pathfinder calculate DC differently? For example, an easy check card has a DC of 10, while a hard challenge has a DC of 25. So this cannot simply be a matter of "Subtract 5 from all DC checks on...

I was quite shocked at how little choice you have with the essentials characters. Compared to the PHB, it felt like a huge step backwards. Also, the fighter reverted to being the most boring combat class on the board.

Makes you wonder though, will people pine for 4th Ed after Next releases the same way that people pine for 3rd/3.5 now?
