Their comment about reducing complexity and streamlining some of the math, without reducing depth of options, is a big step in the right direction! Granted they will never simplify it as much as I would like, but reducing fiddly bits should help gameplay. E.g. I like the sound of 3 actions each...
The Kickstarter for The Widow's Tear, a 3rd party setting supplement for Starfinder, just re-launched today.
It has a horror bent to the setting area, which is designed to be easy to drop into your own game. I backed the first iteration which unfortunately didn't make its funding goal. But it...
Warhammer Fantasy 4th Ed is easily my most anticipated for 2018.
Other like Alternity and Esper Genesis I backed on Kickstarter so of course I have supported them on the poll here :). There's a few on the list I haven't heard of before, so I might need to find out more. Lots of good choices...
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Ed. Absolutely my top choice for next year (and it should even release in 2018 :)).
A few other suggestions for the list include:
The Expanse
Alternity
Witcher
Top Secret: New World Order
Hmm, the Alternity Kickstarter was mentioned in another news article but not in this one for some reason. Its a big deal for me anyway, been looking forward to this as a reasonably generic set of SF rules for some time.
I ran a playtest session of Alternity last night which went down well.
I liked seeing skills as 11/16/21 - intuitive. Makes it feel different from D&D, plus you only need to add the die type modifier - which is simpler than add +9 and die type modifier to beat DC20.
I backed Tome of Beats on Kickstarter and I love the book, no regrets at all i backing it. Sure there are some creature variations that could have been done as a side-bard. But there are many that I am happy to have as their own entry - both for the fluff and theme and because there are a lot...
While I don't own any Midgard campaign setting material I can say I have been extremely happy with my copy of Tome of Beasts and do not for a moment regret backing it on Kickstarter.
Yes, there are some critters that could have been as a variation in a side-bar. But there are just as many that...
Its a pity that when the website crashed recently some material could not be recovered. Tome of Beasts reviews were sitting around 96% and is a fantastic book and deserves its place back near the top.
I'm one of those that backed the Kickstarter and am looking forward to receiving my books in the very near future.
Ultimately this Kickstarter appears to be an example of when a company promises too much (several books, PDFs, mugs etc) and maybe didn't properly take into account increased costs...
5 out of 5 rating for Fantasy AGE Core Rulebook
I love the Dragon Age game, so it is no surprise that this game appeals to me also.Positives: There are a number of enhancements from Dragon Age. Great generic fantasy system that should suit multiple styles of play. Combat and Spell stunts give...
