The kingdom building was fun but time consuming. The last module was a let down for me as well. But it did let me know to expect the final boss of adventure paths to a bit op. I'm mentally prepared to start planning for the boss im the path my group is in now.
3 out of 5 for me. The last module was a dungeon crawl and I felt that a big final battle with armies would have been better. Covid, some players not in the game anymore, phoning it in and general fatigue with the whole path didn't help.
I didn't realize he was a Muslim. Unlike Baker, I didn't change my name upon reversion. That being said, kinda hard not to be disappointed at hearing this. So I don't feel bad about not having any Tekumel books.
I liked Buck Rogers XXV and all the writers work on that. My biggest gripe of that era was Skills and Powers not being able to move past the tacked on skill system.
I have noticed that combat in 4E takes few rounds than other editions. What eats up time is players reviewing options and bickering over tactics. The DM has been encouraging us to speed up decisions and tactics, though. I have one player in the group that rants and raves about 2E. Me, don't ever...
To paraphrase the Wizard of OZ, she was a good witch, but death incarnate in a Warhammer, headshot to a Victor with a crippled 'hammer. One of the few original characters to survive that campaign.
I do see possibilities, when I got started D&D( both O and A) was the gateway RPG(s) in my opinion. One of the better tactical players in a battletech group I played in was a woman. It helped that she had the divine's own luck with the dice too.
What's funny is when you realize you have too much time on your hands and coffee because you think up how to use any race from PHB, PHB2 or FRPG as a particular class and make it work. ;)
Yeah, messing with the NPCs is an issue that every group I've been in has had. Player's( me included) somehow take that personally. My high-school group took it bad in 2E and the guys I played Battletech with were just as bad when the NPCs got picked on.
With my luck, I'd get stuck in a harm anime with all three, plus RC and Pathfinder to make life more interesting. Hmm... might be fun, but still have to kill the director anyway. ;)
