D&D 5E At my table: Hexblade removed, Pact of the Blade enhanced

Remove Hex Warrior from hexblade. Maybe make the hexblade's curse bonus damage scale w/ warlock level. Boom, done, fine, it's fixed, you can leave the rest in, it isn't more dippable than other patrons, it's got a cool Elric/Malus Darkblade thing going, has that Raven Queen associations for...

D&D 5E Warlock as Intelligence caster?

Meh. Three stats; power, endurance, and finesse; for both mental and physical stat groups seems fine. I don't think the problem is the number of the mental stats, but rather their nebulous definitions in comparison to their physical counterparts.

Pre-Release Review of Heroes of Shadow by Wizards of the Coast

This review doesn't seem to delve into the mechanics very much, or very accurately. You object to the vampire on thematic grounds, but what about its shocking lack of options? What about its terrible mechanics - legitimately fighting with the original assassin for worst striker in the game...

    Preview: December and Beyond

You know, I get tired of hearing this, so lets talk about it. Absence of evidence is evidence of absence. It's circumstantial evidence, not conclusive evidence, but it is evidence. It's more or less the entire idea behind Occam's Razor. Absence of evidence isn't proof of absence, but if you...

Sadly PF is pretty much a void for me, while 3.5, which had tons stuff for me (Shadowcaster, Beguiler, Dread Necromancer, Ninja, Necrocarnate, and shadow-hand focused Swordsage all leap immediately to mind), simply isn't played anymore from what I can tell. I will still look this book through...

I for one don't mind the 'essentials-ness' of the book. Just the lack of any actual shadow classes for the shadow power source. Did necromancer have to be it's own class? No. Was it it's own class in previous editions? Not particularly. People like to point to the Seeker and Runepriest...

Honestly, I wasn't happy when wizard re-absorbed enchantment & illusion, either. I was hoping for a more dedicated class along the lines of the 3.5 beguiler. It's not that I approved of the reabsorbtion of other schools, and it's not that necromancy is more worthy of its own class, it's just...

I'm unhappy now, because the entire direction of the book is just so completely not what I wanted, and I've built up a lot of wanting for this product over two years of waiting for material for shadow characters. I can understand martial, arcane, and divine getting done first - they're more...

Honestly? Yes. Let me put it this way: What's the difference between a druid and a cleric of a nature god? What's the difference between a Warlord and a Fighter with diplomacy? What's the difference between an avenger and a rogue? What's the difference between a psion and a wizard? Either...

Unfortunately the one thing you won't get is actual shadow classes for people who wanted to play actual shadow characters, not just arcane, divine, or martial characters with spooky back stories.

Do you mean, "Was it done by Wayne Reynolds, who has done a bunch of art for WotC, Including the covers of more then a fair share of the 4e books, and continues to do a lot of D&D art in addition to doing work for a number of other game publishers, including Paizo"? If so, than yes.

Words cannot express my disappointment at the Heroes of Shadow preview, but I'll try anyway. I wanted to play a Shadow hero. Not an arcane or divine hero with a hint of shadow flavor. I wanted to play a necromancer, with my character's powers and class features focused on animating and...

    Fighter Slayer preview

I fear melee training will be a casualty of essentials, murdered off because it's 'too good' for the new fighter, but leaving paladins, assassins, avengers, non-Str secondary monks, and any number of other melee classes without functional basic attacks to use. At least sword mages have their...

Heroes of Shadow: Assassins, Hexblades, and Necromancers!

There are some serious problems with that power. Healer feature healing is supposed to be pretty reliable. That ability would only let you heal an ally in need if they were the next one to hit the monster (other allies better delay, and the guy who needs healing better not miss!). It's just not...
