Wow, you guys are pretty creative. ok here's another:
A single combat lasted 10 hours because 4 of the party members are summoner wizards, one is a fighter with 20 hirelings and a ten foot pole, and the last player is a dragonborn rouge*. The wizards each take 1 hour turns as they look up...
All this talk about 5e being made up of a "greatest hits" of each edition got me thinking. Surely if there's a best set of features there must be a worst set of features. Therefore I believe there exist on a plane of chaos, the anti-5e made up entirely of dark matter and badwrongfunonium...
I think it was "roleplay", "combat", and "explore". Lots of good insight in those tweets / stream, but nothing too concrete. I'm really interested in seeing this modular approach in action.
This. Maybe it's my old ears or bad headphones, but I struggled to hear it. I suggest you bring down the levels for the background music a tad.
Otherwise, keep up the good work!
I have GM'ed every WOTC module up to E1, with the exception of H3. In general they are pretty poor from a roleplay standpoint. H2 (Thunderspire) and P2 (Demon Queen's Enclave) are the best from a non-linear standpoint, since they both have a good mix of exploration and goals that can be...
Come now, sir. This is the internet! :) There's always someone unhappy. When was this golden age exactly? These ages must happen deep within the recesses of time between editions.
We'll always have Pun Pun.
I've had some time take a deeper dive into the book. I figured it would be fun to compare what I felt were some more problematic monsters in the past. Let's start with wraiths:
Wraiths. I have posted in the past at how much I loath this monster, which is a shame because it's one of my...
I don't think the original idea was ever supposed to be first person. I'm not sure where you got that from. I never went to the game day demos, so you could be right about 1st person -- I just have never heard that before. And calling the new one "1D" is really selling it short a dimension :)...
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have updates. I guess I should have called it 'pleasantly surprised' but I was still sorta lead to believe it was something else. When I look at brute damage and attack rolls in MM1 I want to cry, so this is good overall.
I am curious as to how they'll...
wow I'm pretty surprised to see this! Conceptially this seems very different from those early tech-demos:
YouTube - Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition: Part 2
Not that I mind. I'm a usability-first kinda guy and having token monsters is easier than having 3d models .
yeah you can tell there was some overcompensation where the hydra is concerned. He's a very interesting monster now.
Although I'm a little unclear on something: I understand the intent of giving solos like this free actions to get around stuns, but don't stuns themselves still deny all...
I don't have it in front of me, but I think it's something like a close blast 3 version of their blade basic attack that crits on a 15-20. So it's something like base 70 damage + 3d10 when it crits. I'm probably fuzzy with the numbers but that's the basic idea.
