    D&D 5E Staff of Miracles

Annnnd nevermind, it’s from some DM guilds product that is a touch overpowered.

    D&D 5E Staff of Miracles

So the staff of Miracles says “ the wielder is ALWAYS under the effect of the Death Ward Spell”. Does that mean every time someone who is attuned to it drops to zero HP they go to 1?

    D&D 5E Forcecage and Beholders

It was actually a DEATH TYRANT so it's central eye doesn't have antimagic zone. and a force cage only blocks spells in or out, A prison in the shape of a box can be up to 10 feet on a side, creating a solid barrier that prevents any matter from passing through it and blocking any Spells cast...

    D&D 5E Forcecage and Beholders

What happens when a beholder is "forcecaged"? Forcecage creates a: An immobile, Invisible, cube-shaped prison composed of magical force springs into existence around an area you choose within range. The prison can be a cage or a solid box as you choose. And a Beholder's disentegration beam...

D&D General What DM-skills are you bad at?

Clarity.......in my head every plot makes perfect sense and all the clues I drop are both subtle and obvious at the same time. In my eyes, I am so near perfect that brilliant is an insult. I doubt my groups thinks so highly of me, as 85% of what I try to foreshadow is missed.

D&D General Does anyone else title their D&D sessions?

all the time....I try to use them to foreshadow encounters and the story. Session 3 "Heroes Going Gardening" Session 4 'A Little Trouble in Big China' (no weasels or mistletoe, **** ton of magic) Session 5 "The difference between a tree and a bush is immense" Session 6 "Rainbow Race" Session 7...

    D&D 5E Bleeping Forcecage

I rarely play games above 12th level but when I do, this spell is like the most common one cast. I have some questions..... Once it's cast, if the target is COMPLETELY in the 10X10 or 20X20 area, the target is just kinda trapped right? One way out is to teleport (or other teleportation...

D&D 5E Best low level glass cannons...

Sorry if this has been asked before but my initial search came up empty. I am looking for some glass cannons (high damage, low ac and hp) monsters tonight for some real quick encounters. The parts is 3-5th level so thinking CR 1-2. I already have some quickling hijinks planned!

    D&D 5E Nets and sharpshooter

Yeah, I get that the rules forbid it but is it unbalancing in some way to allow it? I realize that it opens up a can of worms with the thief dice and attribute damage but does it have an unintended consequence of somehow making the net some superior weapon?

    D&D 5E Nets and sharpshooter

Does sharpshooter work with nets and other thrown weapons? If so, a character can take a -5 penalty to attack, attack from 15’ away, and do 10 damage + restrain on a hit right?

D&D 5E Thoughts on this weapon feat

Thanks for the input! I made a few changes: Added a size restriction on the trip and changed the DC calculation based on attack. Thanks Larry! Made the second part even more complicated, making the bonus better but more limited (only attacks that start within the whips reach). Changed the...

D&D 5E Thoughts on this weapon feat

Whip Master • Once per turn when you hit with an attack using a whip, the target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier) or be tripped and knocked...

    D&D 5E How to balance a flaw?

I am playing a thief that because of his backstory, I can’t use metal equipment. That seems like a pretty big penalty to me. Is it “balanced” to just get a free feat at 1st level?

D&D 5E Ideas for Failed Skill Challenges

I often run encounters as an open end skill challenge. A problem will come up like, "what are the orc's planning?" and we make skill checks. Success produce information and sometimes mechanical bonuses, failures produce information but mechanical penalties. For example, I ran a game...
