Well, that's not great news.

Hopefully this will balance it out a bit. My brother met Jewel Staite recently, and she said that Joss had told the crew something that got her pretty excited. From what Jewel said, Joss states that if Serenity at least makes back the money it took to make it, he wants to make another one or two Serenity movies!

Here's a couple pics, he met the Groo from Angel and Jenny Callender from Buffy as well. Said they were all fantastic people. That guy next to Jewel is her husband.

It's not just "Serenity", today's The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Universal Pictures has reshuffled much of its schedule for film releases, various titles shifting by several months.

"The Interpreter," the Sydney Pollack-directed thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, has changed from February 18th to April 22nd.

Joss Whedon's sci-fi western "Serenity," which had originally been set for April 22nd, is moving to September 30th.

"Jarhead," Sam Mendes' war drama starring Jamie Foxx and Jake Gyllenhaal, has been pushed back from September 30th to November 11th.

The studio has also finally set dates for the thriller "The Skeleton Key" on July 8 and the comedy "The 40-Year Old Virgin" on November 23.

Insufferable CURS! Ignorant SAVAGES!

Ah, well. Something to do in October. Heck, might as well call it October, with that late a date.

I wonder if being released after Hitchhiker's Guide will have an effect on Serenity now. Will the public be sick of sci-fi comedies (well, I'm sure Serenity won't be a comedy, but you know what I mean,) or will they be ready for a new one after a few months? Will it end up being compared favorably or unfavorably to Hitchhiker's?
