Looking at everyone's mini's I decided I wanted to share mine. I posted them over on my blog...

I'd give you the link, but its being ornery..so lets see if I can get them to work here...


Disclaimer: I did not photograph these. My digital camera is a POS cheapo that couldnt take a real picture to save its life. (I say this because it is now going to the dissection table for the fun of it.) The full size pics you'll see make them look worse than they are. The camera that was used seems able to pick out the worst of the flaws. (Like Malhavoc, there are a lot of white spots on him that you cant see in normal light.) I didnt know they were there and now that I have seen the pics, I plan on touching them up.

First off is my Dwarven Cannon team. I won this set from the Diamond Throne contest.

I spent more time on the dwarves than I did the cannon, painting it with a mettalic bronze/copper mix. I didnt NEED a dwarven cannon team, but I just couldnt pass it up. Looking back, the cannon somehow doesnt fit style-wise with a bunch of dwarves. Its the kind of cannon you expect to see on the shores of Normandy or somesuch.

Next up are my ogres. I got them out of two boxes of Battle Masters. For the longest time, I had one painted, and one not. I painted the first back in high school (late 80's, early 90's). It was okay, but nothing special. Recently I got out the other one, and painted him up. I liked it so much this time that I stripped the paint off the other and repainted him too.

The only real flaw here is the mettalic red logo didnt work so well..oh well.

So this one is also from Battle Masters. I modified him a bit, I cut the hand holding the lance off (I thought it was too narrow and spearlike) and replaced it with the lance hand from one of the evil horsemen from the same set (who is also in armor, so the gauntlets matched perfectly), and tipped it forward into a more jousting appropriate position. He was my first attempt at kit-bashing.

The pin you see had to be added when I found out that by cutting it off the base it came with (designed for a special slotted base that came with the game) made it not want to stand on its own. One day Ill take him down and make him stand correctly without help.

This one is another contest prize. By the time I painted this one, I had the male Litorian (coming up next), and my friend was playing a female Litorian. I'm sure he did it to be ornery. So when I won, I selected this one, just to make him happy.

It isnt my best, but it wasnt really my choice to begin with, so you can probably tell the difference in quality.

This is one of my favorites. At the time, there was a discussion on one of the boards I visit about what color Litorians should be, and the general concensus was lighter than this. I like it though, so I kept it. I also like the job I did on the armor, some of my best drybrushing.

The last of the contest prizes, I couldnt resist choosing Malhavoc with the gift certifiacte I won. I didnt do his face much, so he has no eyes (one of my failings), but I like the rest of it.

And finally, the first attempt at blending (and though you cant tell, glowing items). I started with white, and then little by little added yellow, orange, then red until I got to the top.

I like the effect enough to keep trying it and the next time I do one up I might push the glow effect more to make it actually visible as opposed to a hint on the top of his hood (which cant be seen from either of these angles).

I like the mettalic blue though!

Oh I do too...the red was thinner and didnt want to coat as well.
