This episode was alright. They finally did something I criticized the show for earlier: Have the villains succeed and give the hero a big set back. I like how they brought back Fennec Shand (the sniper), even if it was by means of redcon (I know Darth Maul was brought back with a similar redcon, but still, it is a redcon). Boba Fett was very fan servicy, but I like that they brought the actor from the prequels (Temuera Morrison) back to play him as an old grizzled Fett. We also got some more of Moff Gideon, which was badly needed. And they are finally setting up the finale by bringing back Cara and Mayfield.
The choreography was a bit messy with some of the fights. Having both the sniper and Mando just stand out in the open while lasers bounce off Mando's armor, while making no effort to take cover, kind of hurts my suspension of disbelief. It was also weird how they had Mando try up to three times to enter that force field. After being launched by it once, you'd think he'd try something new. Boba Fett's amazing fighting skills felt very fan service, especially given the actor's age, and how easily the character was killed off in Return of the Jedi. Also, some of the Stormtroopers looked very CGI.
The Dark Troopers were finally named as such, and shown to be full battle droids (as far as we could tell). We got a bunch of good closeups of them, which seems to imply that perhaps they are not force sensitive at all. So maybe the bodies in tanks that we got to see a few episodes ago were something else entirely.
