This week, I look at more RPG projects that end between March 5th and 25th. As Morrus shared last week, there are two million-dollar RPG Kickstarters running right now. In addition to that milestone, which is massive on its own, it’s worth noting that there are an additional nine RPG and RPG platform Kickstarters in the six figure club as well as another 3 to 4 that are likely to cross that threshold before they end.
Considering that these projects exist alongside over 200 other RPG projects (largely a part of Zine Quest) campaigning right now. Despite the massive field, none of these factors – eleven heavy hitters or a sea of options – impacted the ability of the mid-tier or lower-tier RPGs in finding their audiences. Through February and early March 2021, the tabletop RPG market is turning incredible crowdfunding numbers and we’re seeing more validation of the fact that RPGs have a growing audience.

- DISCLAIMER: I’ve attended conventions with Craig Campbell of Nerdburger Games
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? An homage to Quantum Leap for the gaming table? Sign me up! When award-winning creator, Craig Campbell, announced his plans to make this game, I knew Craig would make the right game, something that felt like the series while being table ready. Let’s breakdown what draws me to this project: a 24-page RPG zine, the art is done in grayscale and “leaping” blue, the video pays homage to the opening of each episode, the system is rules light that allows the build up of points to accomplish tasks which helps to get each leap its arc, and, of course, Craig’s resume (CAPERS, Die Laughing, and more). As a fan of Craig’s work and Quantum Leap, I can’t wait to try this RPG.

If you need a higher level adventure with an amazing pedigree, this gem awaits.

- SYSTEM(S): A version of the Powered by the Apocalypse ruleset
- PROJECT TYPE: RPG zine
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $20 + $4 US S/H for the PDF and print versions of the zine
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Vincent Baker, creator of the Powered by the Apocalypse engine, is taking one of his ideas and turning it into a series of zines. This campaign supports the first one in which you play an ambitious wizard who found a grimoire beyond your skill but not beyond your ambition. This game is a part of series set in the same world including The Barbarian's Bloody Quest, The Last Adventure, and The Thief & the Necromancer, all of which have a zine coming up in a future offering. Story wise, if you want magic that is more arcane and less knowable than many RPGs, this zine offers you a new experience.
DM Yourselves from Tom Scutt
- END DATE: Wed, March 10 2021 8:32 AM EST.
- SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition

This box offers a tactile, immersive RPG experience for kids that may be too young to read in-depth rulesets. For kindergartners to fifth grade, these activities relate to a fantasy RPG story and let kids play while crafting neat memories. If you have a young child in your life, this may be a good way to introduce roleplaying to them.
The Unclean Leporello of the Foul Wizard Baum, for Mörk Borg from Philip Reed Games
- END DATE: Fri, March 5 2021 5:00 PM EST.
- SYSTEM(S): Mörk Borg
- PROJECT TYPE: Accordion-style sourcebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $14 + $6 US S/H for the PDF and accordion-style book
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? In terms of content, this book offers d20 new unclean powers and d14 sacred powers on the other side, all for the Mörk Borg system. Beyond the content, there’s the product’s format. This is another one of Philip Reed’s experiments in formatting, content, and delivery, this time creating a foldout RPG product. It’s not a GM screen or pamphlet, instead it’s an accordion. I’m glad Philip pioneers these types of projects as they open the door for other creators to explore what can be done. I want to see this one and hold it in my hands, to figure out if I, or any other creator, might have a clever idea for this format.
