At least 20 RPG Kickstarters end between September 27th to October 3rd. This article covers these as well as a few quickstarters. As well, I give a brief update about the Kickstarter union situation and its RPG impacts.
Between September 20th to 26th, ten RPG, and RPG-related, Kickstarters end. Compared to recent weeks, that’s a notable decrease. However, this is not the start of a trend. Instead, it’s the result of Gen Con week and its impact on RPG Kickstarter launches (when many of the crowdfundings that would have ended this week likely would have begun).
From September 13th to 19th, there are at least 19 RPG and RPG-related (dice, podcasts, and the like) ending on Kickstarter. From those 19, I do a deeper view of 7 of them (and provide links to the rest). Numenera: Liminal Shores by Monte Cook Games END DATE: Fri, September 13 2019 9:00 PM EDT. This week, I share RPG Kickstarters that end between September 6th through the 12th. At least eighteen RPGs and RPG-related Kickstarters end during that 7-day period. I try to share them all as links and deep dive seven of them. Grim Hollow: The Campaign Guide for 5th Edition by Ghostfire Gaming END DATE: Sat, September 7 2019 2:59 AM EDT. With Free RPG Day 2019 in the rearview, it’s time to talk about next year’s Free RPG Day. 2020 is the first full-year that this event will be under the guidance of its new owners, Gaming Days LLC. I spoke with co-owner, Paul Alexander Butler (Overlight), to discuss what they’re keeping the same, what they’re changing, if they’ll continue to go head-to-head with Origins Game Fair, and if they...
For Free RPG Day 2019, I was able to get lay hands on nine of the offerings (as review copies and items picked up by my partner-in-RPG-crime from Giga-Bites Tabletop Gaming Café [2018 Power Retail Award - Outstanding Organized Play Program and 2019 GAMA Power Retail Award - Outstanding Marketing] and Raven’s Nest Games). I want to thank every game store that stocked Free RPG Day products and every publisher that produced these quick starts and adventures.
This week, I look at RPG Kickstarters that end between August 23rd and August 29th. There are more than eight RPG campaigns that complete during that period as well as seven RPG accessories, all worth checking out.
This list was written before I went to Gen Con (deadlines and all) so any quickstarters or the like that end between August 16th and the 22nd may be missed. Still, there’s a strong lineup between Out of the Box and HYPERBOREA and a number of quick hits looking at RPG-related Kickstarters for products like cards, dice, and more.
This week’s column looks at a number of RPG Kickstarters that end between August 9th and the 15th. I’m experimenting with a format where I focus on RPGs like The Spy Game and Magical Kitties Save the Day!, and close out with quick hits for RPG-related projects like dice, videos, cards, paintings, and more. Let’s dive in.
This week, I review crowdfunding projects ending between August 2nd and 8th. Everthing from 5e to OSR to Savage Worlds and more. While I focus on six larger projects, I include a number of quick hits (short descriptions and links). BESM update below [2019-07-24]. Thanks to eyeheartawk and Jer for pointing this out. Between July 26th to August 1st a number of franchises are offering new editions and sourcebooks. Fragged Empire, Torg Eternity, Aberrant, and Chivalry & Sorcery are just a sampling of the book ending during that timeframe.
What happens when the creators behind Shadows of Esteren – an award-winning RPG with 4 ENnie Awards in 2013 and 2016 – get their hands on the Open Gaming License (OGL) and decide to make an RPG for Dungeons & Dragons 5e? I asked Nelyhann, one of the minds behind Studio Agate and Shadows of Esteren, about Fateforge (5e) on Kickstarter and gaming in France where Studio Agate is based.
Sculptor, gamer, and creature curator Brian Colin is bringing his world, Revilo, to Dungeons & Dragons 5e. It’s a world where recently “humans, elves, and dwarves have crashed onto the coast of Revilo, discovering the land. One human has built an army. Will the rest of Revilo be able to form an alliance before this army conquers them?”
All of these projects end between July 19th through the 25th including a pair of D&D-inspired enamel pin Kickstarters. We’ve reached the week where I can properly cover EN Publishing’s A Touch More Class for 5e Kickstarter! Lots of good 5e options there (I can say with confidence as I back the Patreon and the original Kickstarter and have read/played these options).
Happy almost Independence Day, America! Happy Wednesday, Morrus and Pete (whose weekly podcast is worth checking out). This week I review RPG crowdfunding projects, as well as a convention, that end between July 12th and the 18th.
Tomas Härenstam, CEO of Free League and the creator behind the ALIEN RPG, discussed ALIEN, their game engine, their awards, the new Year Zero Engine OGL, the aftermath of the UK Expo incident, their upcoming Cthuhlu projects, and if they’re pursuing the Predator license, among other topics.
The following RPG crowdfunding projects ending between July 5th and 11th include some quickstarters, a convention, a map, and, of course, tabletop roleplaying games. This is just a sample, but these are worth checking out.
I’m looking at RPG Kickstarters that end between June 28th and July 4th. I feature several that complete on July 4th, America’s Independence Day holiday, which makes the end date interesting – will the holiday impact final day pledge amounts? Check them out to see.
From the projects ending between June 21 to 27, I look at 9 crowdfunding RPGs and 6 dice Kickstarters. Normally I’d try to feature one or two dice offerings, but with six, I bundled them all here with pictures of the dice for us to drool over.
