Hero
Str: Fighter. Archetypes are Weaponsmaster, Paladin, Battlerager
Dex: Rogue. Archetypes are Bard, Ninja, Thief
Con: Shaman. Archetypes are Druid [nature magic & totems], Ranger [less magic, more fighting], Shapechanger [no magic, some kind of strain or dice pool].
Int: Wizard. Archetypes are Evoker, Illusionist, Necromancer
Wis: Adept. Archetypes are Cloud Stalker [mobility, sneak attack], Elementalist [focused on one element], Pugilist [emphasis on melee combat]
Cha: Cleric. Archetypes are Battle, Healer, Inquisitor [skill/info based]. Clerics are supposed to be leaders, orators, and counselors. Charisma makes a reasonable amount of sense for a casting stat.

Intentionally mapped to Final Fantasy 1's Fighter, Thief, Red Mage, Black Mage, Black Belt, White Mage.

Vaalingrade

Legend
STR: Fighter, but like actually a fighter who is good at doing cool martial stuff and folding in Warlords and Barbarians

DEX: Skirmisher - Archers, Monks, and other mobile fighter types. See fighter above where they'll get things to do.

Con: Kineticist - Magic through body control, both internal and external. All the supernatural stuff from the Monk goes here.

INT: Specialist - Skillmonkey rogue types who fight with precision and planning and get in-combat skill uses to back it up.

WIS: Psion - honestly, enough said.

CHA: Mage - Bards, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Clerics, all folded into The Spellcasting Class, all about using force of will or communion with a power source.

Caveats: Some tropes get split between classes. Some subclasses have another stat as a "secondary". There are magical subclasses of noncaster classes, they get their magic abilities via class/subclass features, not spells.

Wis: Rogue (Subclasses: Spy, Mystic, Bard, Thief)

What do these things have in common, other than Conan did it?

If the barbarian archetype in 5e is broad enough to contain wild magic and holy power within it, it's also broad enough to contain "just a guy good with weapons" in it. The rage maybe gets flavored as a "grit and determination" kind of thing, and you're off to the races.
