    Slime woes

Good suggestions, Tilla. To answer your question: I didn't even realize there *were* slimes to be dealt with until I read the fine print (at the moment the PCs were walking down the stairs...). They are Level 3 characters (four PCs) and slimes are CR3 according to the DMG. One character...

    Slime woes

Hey all, This weekend I finally got my PCs together and got them heading into a dungeon they tried to get into last session but had to run away from due to injuries sustained in a crossbow ambush. As they were decending a stairway, I noticed that there were supposed to be two green slimes...

[seems OT, but its not] Coffee Talk

FYI Henry, "Kopi Luwak" is passed through the digestive track of a palm civit (a tree dwelling animal similar to a monkey), not a weasel. ;) As for how long a pound of coffee would last -- it lasts me about 2 weeks between 1.5 people (my wife sometimes drinks it). Keep in mind that the pot I...

3.5 - Is your game better?

I really like the new rules. 3.5 has moderately improved my game. Not the $60 I spent on the PHB and DMG, though. (Haven't seen the MM) In balance, I like the new PHB and don't care for the new DMG. Wish I'd spent half of that $60 on Arcana Unearthed. Now I'm on probation from my wife. :(

    PC Sleeping Position Woes

I like the idea of rolling on a "dream table". Does it resemble an encounter table? The only problem I see with it is you have to either tell PCs their dreams every night or never, because in a fantasy game, dreams are almost always prophecies. If you didn't make it clear that sometimes dreams...

    PC Sleeping Position Woes

Yesterday there was a thread about player sleeping positions, and how they influence personality type etc. I'm not sure how much the conclusions of that study fit in with my own life, but it did raise an issue that has implications for the game I'm running. What are the predominant sleeping...

    Hurricane Isabel and ENWorlders

I'm ready for Isabel, baby. I got a whole closet full of beer and a hydrogen fuel cell PC power supply so I can keep posting to this board in case of a power outage. Thanks for the concern, HoE.

Player that can only play once a month

Frankly, I'm dubious of people who beg generic reasons like "work" that bring them to a game only once a month. It sounds like this guy has other priorities in life other than gaming, and he's using work as an excuse. Thaks ok. It happens. But having somebody just showing up occasionally can...

[OT] This is an off-topic thread [Meta-thread]

*Idly wanders in, sipping coffee. Reads posts.* *Wonders if the hated BoEF refers to some sort of potted meat substitute.* *Glances over his shoulder to see if anyone from The Board is behind him. Laughs uncertainly in all the wrong places. * *Gets paranoid, thinks that everybody else on the...

Has anyone converted Temple of Elemental Evil to 3e?

**Originally Quoted by Diaglo: there is also of course the whole mangled Return to crap by Monte Cook/WotC** D, Why is it "crap"? I was going to run my PCs through it sooner or later (after we finish the original Temple) but I'd hate to lead them into a bunk adventure. The cover looks good...

Weapons, armor, & gear: More or less?

I doubt that details like "rivited" or "smooth" can be accurately modeled. Plus, whats the major difference between one sword or another? They are hunks of sharp metal that chop, poke and crush. There is another reason not to "stat" too much variety: many people won't roleplay with a really...

What would you do with a bat? (or, Help! My familiar is proving relatively useless)

You can grab a bat familiar by the body and stretch its wings around your head. If you hook its claws together it will remain snugly on your forehead. You can use it as a miner's light when you go spelunking in a dark cavern.

    When Historical Books Show Inaccuracies

It sounds like you picked up a book by a feminist historian who would rather ridicule her subject than treat it respectuflly. (Historians of all stripes do this, by the way, not just feminists). I'm no expert on swords, but I'm pretty sure they came in all sorts of sizes and shapes throughout...

[OT]Swedish foreign minister attacked and stabbed

Political assassination is a disgusting and devastating crime. NPR just reported the murder, but that's all I heard about it. I don't mind [OT] posts in the general forum. Especially when important events occur. I am consistently impressed by the awareness and sensitivity of the members of this...

[OT] Are there any D&D like cartoons/anime?

Firstly, this thread isn't [OT], is it? Its about D&D. Secondly, there used to be a cartoon when I was a kid called "Dungeons and Dragons". I think it was probably better than a recent movie of that title, which was a shameless excuse of a film, hijacking D&D's good name. Thirdly, the...

    George RR Martin interview

George R.R. Martin face-lift Not that its any big deal, but I recently went onto George R.R. Martin's website and...wow. Unless the picture of the guy on the web site is not Martin, he's totally transformed his appearance. No more bearded dwarf-looking guy. He looks like he dropped about 20...

    Dungeon of Doom for PC?

Anybody out there remember the Mac game "Dungeon of Doom"? I really liked that game when I was 10. I'd like to get my hands on it for the PC. Does anybody know if a version exists? (I'd like to avoid emulators and such, if possible. They never seem to work right.) Thanks!

    [OT] LOTR Ring-Wraith Attire

Hey, is it just me or could the wring wraiths in Lord of the Rings use the boys from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". I mean, c'mon. Flowing black robes, faceless cowls. Aren't these guys just slightly larger Jawas? When was "Star Wars", 1979 or something? Seriously, though. Why do they need...
