Swords under the Sun — Blades in the Dark meets Dungeon World

Excellent! This is about as close as I get to game design; inspiring others to do cool things.

Swords under the Sun — Blades in the Dark meets Dungeon World

I think to understand a Bard, expand a bit from D&D. In general, 5e does a real good job of making Bards be the class that makes everyone else shine; the skinner can do that, but can also utterly change the story around them. That's the most obvious, yeah. But, how about aiming closer to the...

Swords under the Sun — Blades in the Dark meets Dungeon World

You know what it reminded me of? This: The word naughty word occurs 160 times in AW 2nd edition. If a word is good enough for the Bakers, then its good enough. Also: Hi! I found my 20-year old Enworld account so I could post and say Swords Under The Sun is good. Nicely done. I've wanted something...

    Rogue multiclass into Ranger?

I suppose the next question is: Between Improved Initiative (or Quick Draw), Backstabber and Warrior of the Wild ... does that make a brutal rogue the most strikery-striker around? ... In other words, is that the way to go to build up-front damage (and, to a lesser extent, conditions)...

    Rogue multiclass into Ranger?

Err... Except the character in question is going to be a rogue. And wasn't there a similar modification to the rogue multiclass feat? If not, then you still need to worry about CA, which rangers don't need need to. No, I think I'll continue to go with the ranger MC feat to maximize first strike...

    Rogue multiclass into Ranger?

There will probably be the occasional one-on-one session with the GM, where my character is given a "mission". Whether that is "watch this person" or "eliminate this threat" will really depend. So, yes, Quick Draw looks like the way to go.

    Rogue multiclass into Ranger?

Thanks for the responses, everyone. And apologies for the time delay. There seems to be a lot of divergent opinion on how optimal the various excellent feats are. For the character, I'd like to have optimal damage (and conditions) output, even sacrificing damage at the risk of some defenses...

    Rogue multiclass into Ranger?

I'm going to be playing a rogue in an upcoming 4e game. He's a Brutual Scoundrel. Question is: How well would I be served in taking the ranger multiclass feat? I'd get (up to) another 2d6 damage in each encounter against a chosen enemy. Is that worthwhile? Where would it rank amongst the...

    Is this a badass wizard?

Maybe, but I've really enjoyed the higher con. It means Staff power can up a defense by 3 instead of just 2. Besides, a 16 con feels awesome. Hit points, surges, and stamina. Also, fort saves. I wanted to have good saves across the board and to be fairly hard to kill. But, maybe you're right...

    Is this a badass wizard?

In my 4e game, I play a dwarven wizard. He seemed awesome when I put him together. We're now fourth level, and I feel like I don't hit as often as those with higher primary states. He was my first fourth character. I took high strength to have the option of the armor feats, and because high...

    Power changes for flavor reasons?

So, in general, no one seems opposed to this. It isn't too powerful for the Wizard to be able to use his healing surges to heal his comrades? The one-handed nature of a WarHammer (or two-handed and +1 damage) over a staff isn't a big deal? Is that generally agreed? In broader ideas, is there...

    Power changes for flavor reasons?

I've been finding it difficult to find inspiring feats altogether. I seem to've picked stats and powers that don't mesh in terms of feat selection. That means, though, that I can pick feats that I want. Like leather armor, and the multiclass feat. I'd like for multiclassing to give access to...

New Conditions: Broken Arm and Broken Leg

So, I can heal both during a 5-minute break, or any time a cleric can use Healing Word on me? That seems remarkably easy to heal. Should it be that easy?

    Power changes for flavor reasons?

I agree, and I'm not granting the extra d6. Just the healing surge value, once per encounter. And, actually, I should have said, we did do it exactly like Lay on Hands, including using my healing surge instead of theirs. So, when our striker went down and was having to make death saves and the...

    Power changes for flavor reasons?

I play a dwarven wizard in my first 4e game. I'm enjoying it a lot. Both the game in general, and the character in specific. and 4e. We just became third level. This dwarf likes to jump into the action and cast thunderwave. I describe every spell as coming from his implement. My DM has...

    Looking for Game to join.

Hi. I'm new to The City, and I'm hoping to find a good 3.5 DnD game to join. Let me know if you need a new player.

Making adventurers poorer without affecting overall power

There are two types of markets. The first one is the standard merchants, who see that shiny +1 dagger as little more than a dagger, because do not have the resources nor the concern to pay 2000 gp for a dagger. Second is the upper-crust, who also happen to be involved in government. That +1...

    Prestige Class? Master of Science.

I was in a 2-year program. Theoretically, we're done in may of the 2nd year. Most people take at least the summer, and usually into the next semester. Part of the problem is the Powers That Be don't really know what the want the program to be, so it serves many purposes. That being said, I...

    Prestige Class? Master of Science.

The Debt Flaw. I certainly have the debt flaw. Sometime soon, those loans will start to come due. I also seem to have mastered caffeine. I'm no longer addicted, but last I had caffeine I met a new girl who claimed I was acting like David Tennant's Doctor Who. This is probably the result of...

    What is your favorite beer?

Lately, Haufbrau munchen. Last was a case of the hefe weizen. Damn good. I'm in PA, and we've got weird beer laws -- either by the case at a "beer distributor" which supplies the bars, or up to 2 six packs from a bar, at bar prices.
