i'm fine with most of the changes, although i do wish that we had a descriptive paragraph to go along with the picture.

i am, albeit with some hesitation. i loved the old realms and am hoping that someone (perhaps some of the candlekeep folks) will do a decent conversion for it... that being said, i am looking forward to the new changes, if only for the sake of curiosity.

(first off, let me apologise if this has already been talked about and i simply missed it...) has wotc announced when 'dungeons and dragons insider' is going to go live with more content than just the magazines (the character creator/visualizer etc.) and when they are are going to start charging...

and potentially a felony.

it's like 20 different 13 year olds decided to make what hey saw was the most kick ass game ever made (in all its juvenile glory) and then they were all combined into one monumentally stupid game. it's not the worst game i've ever played, but it's up there. . that being said, i've had fun with...

the only thing reading this thread has accomplished, is that it's made me pretty damn glad that i game with the people i do, because it could be a hell of a lot worse. well, not the only thing... it also reinforces the idea that he majority of people who play paladins really don't know how to.

it will, undoubtedly, be heavily influenced by both lovecraft and clark ashton smith.

i imagine it's due to the changes the grell went through for 'lords of madness,' becoming a social creature with a clearly defined society and the occasional isolated outcast.

i also tend to find mystara a bit campy, but i think it works for it. and i also tend to think that 'the keep on the borderlands' is a bit campy, too, so i would say it's a gloriously campy fit.

when 'vampire' and co. first came out, it seemed like the perfect game for someone who loved horror fiction... it wasn't. a century or two later they released 'hunter' which seemed like such a great idea: normal humans fighting monsters! only they weren't. they were poorly conceived superheroes...

when i was gainlessly employed at a gaming store, i would hear all sorts of folks bragging about their games from the 15 year kid that swore up and down that he rolled natural 18s for every stat... for every character he ever played to a 'charming' fellow with some rather nazi-like viewpoints...

i'm sure it will, but this particular question was asked from a collector's standpoint, not necessarily a player's.

apologies if this has been brought up already... does anyone know if there's going to be an official (and printed... not pdf) conversion manual for fourth edition?

i started with the d&d red box and have moved on to every edition, since. my small group and i are excited about 4e (the others more tentatively than i, but they tend to not spend as much time reading about it as i do) and will give it a shot when it comes out.

that really wouldn't work as i, and the original creator, don't really want to destroy the originals.

i've recently stumbled upon some old poster sized maps that a friend created, years ago, for a campaign we had done and was looking to get the copied and printed. can anyone give me any helpful advice on the subject? (in particular, pricing... what chains to avoid... good experience/bad...
