Here They Are! Your 10 Most Anticipated TTRPGs For 2024!

The only TTRPG I'm looking forward to this year is DC20 from The Dungeon Coach. This far the alpha is a blast to play.

Level Up (A5E) Quick question about vehicle proficiency

I noticed the Trader background has a listing for "Tool Proficiencies: One vehicle". Is this synonymous with "land vehicles", or "wagon"?

    WOIN What does O.L.D., N.O.W., & N.E.W. stand for?

I haven't seen (nor to I expect actually exists) an official answer to what the "abbreviations" stand for, so I thought I would start a thread where we could toss a few suggestions around for laughs. O.L.D. - Owlbears, Liches, & Dragons! N.O.W. - Not Office Work! N.E.W. - Never Enter Warp-space!

    WOIN Infuse and damage types

Judging by the rules for resistance and vulnerability on p78, I would assume that the elemental infusion effectively "coats" the blade in fire, it should do both. You would need to be resistant to both fire and slashing damage to soak that attack. An elemental transformation spell would replace...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

This is precisely the point I was trying to get across. In the months I've been running this campaign, however, it has not come up. No one choose to play (or even multi-class into) a wizard.

Magic Items That Are Better Than Nothing...

I really like this concept. Especially the back-stories available on the descriptions I have read so far. I may be incorporating some of these in my upcoming campaign.

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

I only meant that you have as good of a chance at wasting them as snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Since it happens before the roll, the roll could have been in your favor anyway. Not a big issue, but a hit against it.

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

I must clarify some things from my original post. I am not saying that wizards are weak (any of them). With access to [their selection of] hundreds of spells, they are far from weak. But... If I wanted to play a wizard, what would compel me to pick the School of Illusion over pretty much any...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

Due to the "no damage" rule, it can't possibly be real. If I made a club real, should it not do 1d4 damage if I whack you with it? And since it can't be solid enough to hurt, I would think that Truesight should still see it for what it is. I have accepted both the Improved Minor Illusion and...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

I agree that illusion should not be a different flavor of evocation via shadow-magic or the like. Although I do like the idea of getting a go-to spell that functions better for you than standard (as in the suggestion to up the power of phantasmal force). I also like the idea of increasing the...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

Maybe I can make illusions quasi-real if cast by illusionist. Not directly in the gonna-hurt-somebody realm, but possibly make them think the pain is real, etc. This is something to look at for sure...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

With no "forbidden schools" anymore and every wizard is a specialist, the real difference in the archetypes boils down to the granted abilities at 2nd/6th/10th/14th level. This is where I see the illusionist as weak. 2nd level: Cast a specific cantrip twice per round effectively. Nice, but not...

D&D 5E Illusionist - is it as weak as it seems?

I am designing my own campaign world, and with the release of 5e, I opted to use that ruleset (for the most part). With that in mind, I've been pouring through the PHB staring at classes and their archetypes, looking for outliers. That's when I came across the Illusionist. Don't get me wrong...

    D&D 5th Edition Player's Handbook

5 out of 5 rating for D&D 5th Edition Player's Handbook It's not a perfect product, but it is far and above the best gaming core rule book I've ever seen. The ruleset is simple, yet powerful and intuitive. It seems pretty extensible. I can easily imagine re-running all of my old 2nd edition...

[Solved] In search of a magic item...

And of course, no sooner than I posted... I found the Spiralburst Bottle on page 116 of the Book of Vile Darkness. Please disregard this thread.

[Solved] In search of a magic item...

I have been building NPCs for a dungeon I am preparing. At one point this weekend, I stumbled into a magic item that, once thrown at a target, would burst -- sucking the target into a spiral and sending its remains to the astral plane. Today, I can't seem to find such an item. Does anyone know...

    Magic item cost

So, back to the original question... I completely missed Invulnerability in the DMG, which grants a suit of armor DR 5/magic for a +3 bonus cost. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense -- DR 5/silver or magic should actually be cheaper than +3, as it is easier to cause full damage...

    Magic item cost

Just for background info, I am running a 3.5 update to the Labyrinth of Madness. The players have a large selection of books to build characters with. I'm limiting them to 10 magic items of no more than 60k gp each (allowing a two for one trade up for 90k gp max). It is a fun, although long...

    Magic item cost

So, where might I go for guidance on making magic armor with damage resistance? Especially with more than one type at a time. I couldn't find anything in the DMG.

    Magic item cost

I am just getting back into DMing after a several year hiatus. I was looking to understand the pricing on a pair of related magic items I have found. I've found two separate versions of Vampire Hide Armor. Version 1 Acts as +1 studded leather, grants DR 5 silver or magic. Cost: 21,175 gp...
