    Multiclassing Feats & Powers

I skipped a page, so I don't know if someone commented on this. When you decide to Paragon "into" your second class, the powers that you gain are the highest level power of that type available. In order to "trade out" the 11th level paragon encounter power for a class power of equal or...

    Multiclassing Feats & Powers

Roles and multiclassing I have a concern about the suggested house rules for multiclassing. It excessively dilutes the concept of roles in 4E. The player that starts with a defender is a defender. While you can give up some of your powers in order to spread out into other roles, you are still...

Selling items : illogical rule ?

What should *most* games play like? So, in a heroic and cinematic-styled role playing game, which 4E is marketed as being, what should the play style of a session be like? Should heroes worry about stripping their foes of every last possession, since one million pennies still makes you...

Selling items : illogical rule ?

The designer's job In examing rules for magic items, my reverse engineering suggests that these were the goals of the designers: Make something easy to run. [Game is eventually going to be targeted at new players.] Prevent players from selling all of their gear and buying one Über item...

Selling items : illogical rule ?

Don't follow the rules! If the rules are "broken", then don't follow them. Your game is different than my game and there is no need to convince me that the 20% rules is right or wrong. If you are a DM that chooses to allow greater value (with any conditions you choose to add to the process)...

    Anyone Tried Hexes?

You can catch those two nearly adjacent targets with a second cone template: B BB BBB BB B This is still nine squares, but shoots straight out a hexside, rather than from the vertex of the wizard's hex. And still blasting out to range 3.

    Can Minions gain temporary hp?

Yes, but they still die in one hit.

    Why Knock Someone Prone Anymore?

Of course, you could switch the point of view. What if a monster had a power that could make a character prone? Would it be fair to hit by the monster when you tried to do anything useful? That's what 3E was like. If you were prone inside of a monster's reach, either you better have a lot of...

Long jump is higher than High jump

You step over hurdles, not leap over them. There is a small hop involved in getting your leading foot and leg over the 42" hurdle, but you certainly don't perform a series of 42" high leaps as you run around the track. Besides, a hurdle track would involve 5-7 jump checks per double move. :D

D&D 4E Crafting... can anyone make anything in 4E?

Crafting skills in 1st edition? There were no skills in 1st edition D&D, non-weapon proficiencies in 2nd edition and skill points in 3rd edition. Apparently the designers thought that using skill points to finely tune the abilities of your character was a bit too much in complexities. It's...

Warlords that multiclass as Wizards can Raise Dead?

The thinking here, from what I read on design commentary, was that parties should never be required to have a character of a certain class. (e.g. Cleric). If the adventure requires you to send a message to your patron, the party should be able to do this, regardless of the classes the players...
