    D&D 5E Vampire Query

When I read the entry in the MM, I must have missed that part at the end of the first paragraph of Misty Escape. Thanks for pointing that out.

    D&D 5E Vampire Query

Is the only way to kill a full vampire to get it to 0 hit points and force it into mist form, and then destroy its resting place so it cannot reform? Is there any other way?

Listen to the full Gamehole Con Panel from WotC's Mearls, Perkins, and Crawford

I was at gameholecon and played in the D&D open. The adventure involved going into undermountain. Halaster Blackcloak was also featured in the adventure!

D&D 5E Check out this beautiful Sword Coast print!

Bought the hi res map from Mike's website and had it printed out on nice paper in 3' X 5' format. Quite pricey, but well worth it! Still need to determine whether to get it framed, and if so, what type of frame.

D&D 5E Volo's Guide to Monsters Hobgoblins: You would think there are many cities.

In my current Realms campaign, A Hobgoblin Warlord has a sizable army encamped around the flooded city of Port Llast.

D&D 5E How is the Giant Badger CR1/4?

Speaking of Giant Badgers, they were featured in a battle in an Adventurer's League module that was played at our FLGS last night. 4 Tables were playing the same mod, and at least one PC was killed by a badger at each table!

D&D 5E LMoP - Help with Ideas for Conybery (mild spoilers??)

Phantom, I can't recall where I read this, but I thought the Barbarians that took over Conybery before Agatha chased them out were werewolves. Perhaps you can somehow include this as part of your scenario.

    D&D 5E "The" Lich?

Well, it was over 30 years ago that we played that mod. However, I recall under the rules of that edition that once a Wall of Stone was put up, it was permanent. They truly left afterwards, and I thought the mod indicated that if left alone, the Lich doesn't bother PCs.

    D&D 5E So 5 Intelligence Huh

Your "opinion" is wrong, according to the rules of 5E. As a comparison, a gorilla in 5E has an intelligence score of 6. No rational human being could believe that Sherlock Holmes has less intelligence than a gorilla.

    D&D 5E "The" Lich?

When I ran D1, the as soon as the party figured out it was a lich they "wall of stoned" the cave entrance, left promptly and never looked back. Ever.

D&D 4E WotC 4E Neverwinter Campaign Setting on sale for $10 – Useful for 5E?

I am using this extensively in my 5e Campaign based out of Neverwinter. One of the best Realms sourcebooks of any edition.

    D&D 5E question about surprise

The rules state that "Any character or monster that doesn't notice a threat is surprised at the start of the encounter." So taking the Doppleganger (DG) example on the first page of this thread, even though they are aware there is a creature in front of them, they do not think they are a threat...

    D&D 5E 5th Edition Intelligence

You didn't, but you implied that having a lower than average intelligence score MUST effect every aspect of intelligence, and that one cannot have certain aspects of intelligence that are average and some that are slightly lower than average. Why is that a "must" but not having every aspect of...

    D&D 5E 5th Edition Intelligence

Wrong. A high Charisma doesn't necessarily correlate to good looks. In fact, there are many people who are incredibly attractive that cannot talk their way out of a paper bag. Likewise, some of the most charismatic people in history (Hitler, Napoleon) are so ugly that they could knock a dog off...

D&D 5E Quick long rest question

I agree with both Devin and Tony. I was just relaying what was said by the developer. I think it was Crawford. One of my first houserules was to do away with this.

D&D 5E Manacled by Thieves' Tools

This is actually RAW for locks. Under the description for locks in the PHB, it states that one needs a proficiency in thieves tools to attempt a dex check to open the lock.

D&D 5E Expediting Exploration: keeping travel fun

You are calling for WAY too many dice rolls. Only call for dice rolls when there is uncertainty.

D&D 5E Quick long rest question

This was asked of the developers on twitter shortly after the basic rules came out. They said it would have to be an hour of fighting to interrupt the rest.

D&D 5E Out of the Abyss: Underdark as Favored Terrain

In one of the appendices of the book, there is a replacement background feature which does almost the same thing.
