No more ubiquitous dump stats !?

That pretty much describes my previous D&D experiences. I always hated that most of the party was CHA deficient trolls. My group tended to play non-paladin, sorcerer, etc (ie. classes hardwired into taking CHA for some benefit). The hardwiring still lives on in 4e but for numerous other reasons.

    War Pick; ?d8

I thought most, if not all, PC races were getting bonuses without penalties to their ability scores.

Design & Development: Magic Item Levels

emphasis mine. I think having a built-in upper limit for all 'powers' or effects from class abilities and magic item (both active and passive) would serve to limit the X-Mas effect somewhat. This hard limit can mirror how mages cast magic in Arcana Unearthed/Evolved: you pick the...

    New Design & Development: Feats

Hmmm....classes may have baggages or not (see below), but it may require more than a simple bite-sized band-aid solution if you want to punch someone (as per martial arts), when you don't even know an uppercut from straight...you being a cloistered cleric/wizard. A fighter would have access to...

    New Design & Development: Feats

It may decidedly hurt the immersion factor for some groups/campaigns, like you say.

    New Design & Development: Feats

In my decidedly limited understanding of martial arts, I recall there being more creature names based on real world examples such as: monkey, crane, mantis, etc...rather than fantasy creature like dragon. Anime and other such fantastic literatures usually have the more fantastic creature names...

    New Design & Development: Feats

If 4e is designed to simplify (as intended): All bonuses provided by feats would be a feat bonus. Following this train of thought, then all bonuses provided by arcane spells (or wizard powers if you will) would be arcane bonus. Which nicely ties in with the power source concept...martial...

    Races & Classes spotted?

Dragonborn. ...love the concept ...but hate the name! :\ So... bland. Even the Krynnish 'draconian' had better flavour to the name.

    Bloodied

I would have to go through my friend's extensive library in order to track it down, although I have some suspicions that it may be from Unearthed Arcana. Or it may just be from a WotC web exerpt... :heh: The tidbit that was had from below the half-way point was IIRC: the condition 'clobbered'...

    Bloodied

I remember a WotC product giving advice on designating the half way point for hp as being an important condition during the hay days of 3.x.

    New Feat: Duelist

This feat benefit the tank more than a finesse fighter...since a tank can engage a low mobility combat brute and build up huge bonuses after a while (bonuses he can put into either power attack or combat expertise)...and he has the hps to endure it. A finesse fighter, which are usually hard...

Useing Dexterity to hit --> everytime.

Oh and do check out Iron Heroes it has interesting ideas regarding what stats gets to be used to hit... For example with the right choice, you can build a beefy but weak guy (that is high Con and low Str) that uses his Con to hit! :heh:

Useing Dexterity to hit --> everytime.

Ooooh, I like this accuracy penalty idea...although I am in the camp of 'Dex to hit makes the stat overpowered'. Maybe allowing finesse weapons (light weapons or lightly designed such as rapier) to be auto finessed (ie Dex to hit) without the need to spend a feat? But if I have the time and...

How Long Do TWF Penalties Last?

Emphasis mine. If you get the benefit for 1 round...wouldn't you also get its penalty as well for the same duration? Sounds fair to me.

    Grappling and Swallow Whole

When you are inside the belly of the beast, you still have to make successful grapple checks to deal damage with your light piercing and/or slashing weapon right?

iron heroes and armiger token pool

I've also added three new armor abilities for the armiger: Three additional armor abilities are added: Instant Fortress, Unassailable Bastion, and Unstoppable Juggernaut. To activate Instant Fortress ability you spend 4 armor tokens as a free action to gain instant access to the defense...

iron heroes and armiger token pool

If you want to increase the armiger's token generation abilities more give him tokens for using defensive challenges and fight defensively attack challenges, and defense actions (namely standard defense and full defense). And to give credits where it's due the above token mod is not my idea but...

iron heroes and armiger token pool

The clause for 'taking no damage while threatened' is for the times when enemies think you are a 'tough nut best left for last' and ignore you. So even when ignored you remain a plausible threat.

iron heroes and armiger token pool

I am more than tempted to house rule the armiger before even seeing one in action...it is such a dull class when it is very difficult at best to use any of his token based ability (except for the indomitable wall of iron of course). Based on the discussion going on in the IH board...maybe the...

iron heroes and armiger token pool

Personally I think the Armiger is a half-caster...sort of like a paladin or a ranger. Not too reliant on spells but more on melee. The only problem is Armiger ignored is Armiger without tooth and claw. And as pointed out his mastery feat trees serve cross purposes. Hhhmm....I may just house...
