4 Winds Fantasy Gaming teams up with 3.5 Private Sanctuary

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game 3rd party publisher 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming (The Book of Arcane Magic, Paths of Power) will be publishing a new supplement written by podcast host Ryan Costello Jr (3.5 Private Sanctuary, Know Direction).

Fans of Costello’s podcasts have heard whispers of his proposal for Strategists and Tacticians – The Definitive Guide to Clever Warfare for a number of months. 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming will be releasing the 96 page sourcebook. Like their other products, it is 100% compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Strategists and Tacticians introduces new rules and combat maneuvers as well as over 50 new feats, a dozen new prestige classes, and a variety of new spells. With new options like severing limbs and choking, combat gains a new edge. With a hint of humor and the insight of narrator Flynn Dielle, Strategists and Tacticians combines everything fans have come to expect from 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming and 3.5 Private Sanctuary.

Attached to the project are artists Alan Cooper and Kate Bradley, art director Hugo Solis, and writer Clinton Boomer. Each brings with them a wealth of experience, although for Alan Cooper and Kate Bradley, this is their first fantasy RPG sourcebook. Fans of Pathfinder no doubt recognize the names of Hugo Solis and Clinton Boomer, both of whom have distinguished themselves as talents that get things done.

4 Winds Fantasy Gaming is a Great Falls, MT, USA-based roleplaying game publisher, formed in March 2009. The co-owners of the company, Connie & Robert Thomson, have over 40 years combined experience as gamers in tabletop roleplaying games and will use that experience to bring quality new material to the hobby. Connie & Robert have made their home in Great Falls, MT since May 2004. Connie is originally from McClusky, North Dakota and Robert is originally from Etowah, Tennessee.

Project manager and writer Ryan Costello, Jr is a prominent figure in the 3.5 online fandom thanks to his website and podcast 3.5 Private Sanctuary (www.35privatesanctuary.com) as well as Know Direction, the fan-generated Pathfinder RPG news, reviews, and interviews podcast. Although this is his first sourcebook, he has analyzed what makes a good RPG supplement in the 40+ reviews on his site of Wizards of the Coast, Paizo, and third party publications, some of which have been cited as sources on Wikipedia. He is an award winning playwright (Three Pony Show award, Clean Freak) and screenwriter (Tupelo Film Festival Best Short - 2nd place, Book of Wisdom) and a published author of children’s literature (Mrs. Fritz’s Kids series).

Writer Clinton J. Boomer, known to his friends as “Booms,” resides in the quaint, idyllic, leafy paradise of Macomb, Illinois, where he attended school from the 4th grade through college. He began playing D&D with the 1993 release of Planescape, began freelancing for Paizo & Kobold Quarterly after his Top 4 placement in RPG Superstar 2008, and currently devotes a full 99.9% of his waking hours to thinking about RPGs. Boomer is an amateur filmmaker (co-creator of the PHB PSAs on YouTube), an Ennie-award winning writer (contributor to the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting and KoboldQuarterly.com) and a very talented bartender.

Art director Hugo Solis is a graphic designer and illustrator. His desires to create and develop drove him to co-create the Pathfinder-centric Wayfinder fanzine, which proved hugely popular when it was revealed at Paizocon II. He has participated with art and design in projects with Rite Publishing, Kobold Quarterly and Sean K Reynolds among others, striving to continue improving and getting involved in more and bigger RPG projects.

After studying Graphic Design and completing a degree in 2D traditional animation, artist Kate Bradley found her true calling in commercially and privately commissioned illustration. She has specialized in sketch card art since 2007 when she was approached to work on the Inkworks, Hellboy Sword of Storms sketch card set. Since then she has worked for Topps, Upper Deck and Rittenhouse on such titles as Lord of the Rings: Masterpieces 2, Marvel Masterpieces 1, 2 and 3, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Women of Marvel, X-Men, Justice League and more. Strategists & Tacticians is an exciting new challenge for the artist. Although new to the genre, Kate is eager to dive into the RPG realm to bring its magic to life.

Artist Alan Cooper is the artist and writer behind the web-comic Bob ‘N’ Ed, a project he has used to refine his drawing, inking, and digital painting skills, and which has encompassed a large number of pop-culture caricatures, from Star Wars to Lord of the Rings to Predator. He has been drawing for as long as he can remember, and plans to continue doing so for as long as he can imagine. It is with great enthusiasm that he looks forward to expanding his repertoire by bringing to life the character of Flynn Dielle as the narrator of this exciting project.
