That - and the way they are headed - brings a troubling realization popping up to the surface.

"Ah... Was it just the two of you?" Mialucus looks disctinctively uncomfortable, and ruefully proud at the same time.

"No," the Scholar replies with a glance at Bharhash. "We had a guide. Detri, I believe his name was. That was it, wasn't it? Yes...Detri. Good man." He inhaled deeply through his nose. "Pity he didn't make it. You know it's a funny thing though. We weren't actually defeated by those skeletons. We were in the middle of fighting them...and suddenly...whoosh!" He swung his arm around in a circle, miming a tornado. "Sand just came up all around us. I blacked out...came to here, tied up and gagged and listening to you all fight."

He nods. "Someone didn't want us dead. I expect we may even have been intentionally put in your path."

"Not to diminish, but have you considered 'fresh paint'"- a gesture that englobes the buckets full of body parts and the blood-soaked wall carvings- "or another sacrifice goat?"

The axe that Mia throw grinds across the ruff floor, hitting the symbol closest to the door hard, then sliding to the next symbol directly north. As soon as it touches this symbol, the surrounding it shatters into multiple lightening bolts, striking the axe from all directions. The lightening arcs off the steel and melts it slightly while setting the wooden handle of the axe on fire and it smolders as it stays put on the symbol, partially fused to the floor.

[sblock=OOC]
The axe hits D7 (on the room map) and skids across to D6, where a multitude of lightening bolts hits the axe and renders it unusable.

As Mia and the Scholar leisurely chat, Caden sneaks up ahead, following the blue line. Stick stays behind to chat with the Barbarian while the halfling peer around the corner.

Looking into the new room, he notices an oblong-shaped room that extends back about 30 feet. Immediately to the right and left you see a pillar on either side of the entrance way, and two more pillars about 15 feet directly behind the first two, forming a perfect square. Inside of this square of pillars are arcane symbols forming a circle in the middle of the room with distinct patterns and old looking markings. To the right of the pillars is a large double-door, while to the left of the pillars is a small wooden door. Even without magical training, Caden can feel the magic very distinctly in this room, almost as if the air is heavy with it.

New and exciting things happening here, including the revelation of a new room! I will work on trying to find out what happens to yzard's character, and I will recruit someone else to fill the spot. Until that happens, however, we will continue with just four players (even if we get into a combat situation, I'll keep it fun, not to worry), since hopefully we have a pretty stable gang of four. You all know the rules, keep posting!

Caden finally remembers to check the ceiling for the presence of the blue vein that the architecture followed.

Briefly eyeing the arcane symbols on the ground before him, the halfing decides to leave that for his companions following behind and instead focuses on the doors either side.

Backing up a bit, Caden sprints forward and leaps towards the small door to the left to clear the ground encompassed by the pillars. Landing comfortably, he moves quietly across to the small door and then listens for any signs of activity.

As the others arrive and begin their examination of the arcane symbols, Caden repeats his leaps to check the double doors.

Mialucus makes an admirative ooohing sound, turns on his heels and quietly locks step with the others.

"You heard nothing about this thing before or during your capture?" [etc]

"Ah yes, much better," comments Mialucus with just a *hint* of happy sarcasm.

He looks down to the symbols, pauses and then suddenly bursts out laughing: "Caden, Scholar, we are idiots!" Still chuckling low in his throat he spreads out his arms: "Who can sweep electric tiles?"

<OOC: Eblue, Mialucus will check his memory: were some of the tiles back there - say- dustier than the others?

<OOC: Oh, and Arcana, History and perception on *these* symbols too, please: 1d20+11=28, 1d20+11=14, 1d20+5=20

"Mmm, no...sadly they were more shouting things like 'get them' and so on as they got us," The Scholar answers as he rubs his chin. "Not to mention, we were taken largely by skeletons, so vocalizations were at a minimum."

"As for dust, can't hurt to check but I doubt anyone's swept ANY of these stones in years. But maybe that means they left tracks, eh? Any of you a skilled tracker?"

Meanwhile he examines the markings in the next room over, squinting slightly as he tries to work out their meaning, or find flickers of memory giving clues to them...

Arcana 25, Religion 29, History 17

Adding 3 to History with Memory of 1000 Lifetimes. Final History score is 20 therefore.

"Ours chuckled evilly," supplies the swordmage, revelling in the happy memories. "Very lively."

"A slow journey," comments Mialucus with finger pointed at the deva, "but destination reached!" He is still grinning wide.

[Sblock=OOC]With one helping the other (if we can?) that makes the final tally: Arcana 30, History 19, Religion 29 and Perception 20[/sblock]

"So what do you plan to do with the artifact?" He asks, refering to the sun coin pieces.

[Sblock=OOC]You still there, Eblue? Haven't heard from you for a while.[/sblock]
