Quentin plays host to his elven companion, his knowledge about the ship probably uninteresting to her, but he points out the beauty of the sky, sea, dolphins and even new companions. He avoids talking about the academy, but mentions in passing that no one can pass the academy without at least some support. If for nothing else than sympatetic ear for the woes caused by teachers and students alike. He tries to get her "into the fold" - to meet others at the very least.
Among other talks:
"Take this as a challenge, my lady. Nobles have the ability to lead, but it serves no purpose if we don't use it. These people are all somehow deemed worthy by their elders, be them warriors, merchants or budding mages. And all could use a guiding hand. Not passing orders from untouchable heights, but showing them what they could be, what to aspire to."
If Merrilon Stardreamer, heir to the House is convinced to join the companions he introduces her and himself and asks Zivar for accepting him as roommate. He lets others speak to get sense of each, talking animatedly when it is his turn, offering the information freely.
If she doesn't, he excuses himself and approaches the group, introduces himself and asks Zivar the same. After several minutes of introductions he returns to the elf until she retires.
He notices Korlins absence, finding it strange since he didn't return with anything and all females were accounted for, at least among the future students. Assuming he was warned by a sailor or rebuffed somehow, he doesn't ask anything. Still, the man will be watched from now on, just in case.

Quentin is very careful not to flirt except in most veiled and refined way he can manage. He flatters her the same way, she is noble and should understand innuendo. He knows (from his admittedly less then objective sea elves) land-elves are sensitive, especially high-born ones, but having such contact for the future is too valuable to ruin by careless comment. This is quite an effort of will on his part since his normal women companions aren't...how do we put it...on the same heights as this princess. Spending more times on the ship than on nobles fine events, he is somewhat rusty in this department, but elf behaviour helps to focus him. His time among sea elves is invaluable although the customs are much different - but he can talk about some of elven history and different mores even with the one convinced of her own superiority.
OOC: is Merrilon equally dismissive of sea elves as she is of non-elf riff-raff? Or is it just noble vs commoner bias? She is talking to Quentin after all - and he is pulling ever so gently toward socializing with others.

OOC: hopefully, the elf can at least talk to us without "leading" by ordering everyone around
