A couple of KOTS questions

Hi, first post from me. I have started reading KOTS a couple of days before and i am not sure about a couple of things:
First of all, what does resist means? For example when something says "resist 5 fire" or "resist 10 all"?
and second since not all areas of KOTS are depicted in the battle grids, how am i supposed to run the encounters using minis? By sketching my own grids?

Restist Fire 5, means it subtracts 5 from all sources of fire damage, while Resist 10 All means it subtracts 10 from every source of damage (force, fire, physical, etc.)

As fr the battle maps, if you are going to use Miniatures I highly recommend using a Battle Mat (where you can sketch the map with makers and erase later) or use the official Dungeon Tiles (about 4 sets would be needed).
