[sblock=OOC]When you're not in an adventure (like us right now), you can just buy the items, assuming you have the gold. Just make sure the math for your accounting is clear somewhere on your sheet so the judges can check it when you submit for approval when you hit level 2.
When you're in an adventure, you have to ask the DM. As long as it makes sense for you to be able to shop at the moment (ie - you aren't in the belly of the sewers or on a distant island with no merchants) your DM will usually let you go do your shopping.[/sblock]
