Gram pauses to think as you walk. He shakes his head in bewilderment. "I hate to admit it, but the moment this happened, I thought, Kadar, that serpent! Then I realized he was one of the judges that got poisoned! Now I don't have any ideas. Maybe this prisoner of yours will have answers. I pray so."
"Sometimes it pays to trust a first impression. I take it Kadar's life does not hang so precariously as the Patriarch's? We need not assume that every cup contained the same type or amount of poison... though I cannot recall whether the candidates and judges selected their own cups from the tray. I hope they were retrieved?"

Shadya, unable to locate a suitable open shop will return to the rooftop.

"All the stores are locked, there is little I can do short of breaking in and stealing" Shadya says.

(OOC: If Shadya returns before we're down to the last sheet, Lasair will save all the last sheets she has instead of just one but otherwise do as above, the Suggestion will be to continue as before from where he left off--but this time out loud, repeating whenever requested.)

"Don't worry. I saved some paper for Plan B. There will likely be very little that we will need to know, so we can just listen to it and make him repeat if there's any trouble. I'm sure you will know how to spell the names of Sairundani terms he mentions."

(OOC: If there is plenty of paper left over by the time Shadya gets back, Lasair will give Shadya one too, just to be sure they take the right notes. If you post what he says, I can tell you what Lasair would write down--mainly names and important details. Her 19 Int allows her a pretty good memory in general)

(Lasair's suggestion DC is 16, right?)

Hasan says, "I'd rather write, thanks."

(Assuming Lasair tries again...) When Lasair asks again, he puts the pen down. "You're right, I guess. Paper's expensive, I'm just wasting it." He looks very annoyed, but he continues his story through spoken word instead of written. Spoken Sairundani words, to be precise.

[sblock=Sairundani: ]"After this I took my first real job. It was simple enough; I was to collect a debt from a man who owed money to us. I was told to prepare for a fight, since the interest, as usual, was high. This man was just a laborer, but somehow he had the money. I did not have to force it from him, he gave it willingly. I returned to the others with the payment and that night I was invited to a celebration."

He talks about a rather wild night, involving a lot of ale and a camel. Then he rambles on about more jobs he had as a debt collector for the Kaati Shut. He had to beat the money out of a couple of people, but most paid up right away. Never once does he kill a man. Each job he describes in meticulous detail, even throwing in a few names of debtors, all laborers except one low level politician.

"His name was Jeren ai Gef'n, I recall..."[/sblock]

OOC: How long will you be listening to him? The full 6 hours until the suggestion ends? And while I'm thinking about it, I haven't been keeping track of Lasair's PsP reserve. Can you tally it up, Rystil?

Conuld:

"Yes, of course we collected all the evidence. The captain of the guard is inspecting it now with some of the scholars."

OOG: So I'm leaving the country for about 2 months, starting on Tuesday. I'll be going to Japan, where I'll be touring/working. The first couple of weeks I will most likely be absent from the boards. I won't be able to resist logging in a couple of times, but I anticipate being way too busy to spend significant amounts of time on LEW.

Once I get settled in, I hope to return to a more normal schedule. I'll keep you posted.

(OOC: 日本ですか?行っていっらしゃい! お休みですか?らくでいいですねえ!

She will listen until he gets to the end of his story or six hours is up--if he hasn't gotten far enough by then, which seems unlikely but is technically possible, she will renew the Suggestion. By my count, she has spent 16 PP so far today. Also, he is indeed listening to her and focusing on the names of all the labourers and such, but what about the fellows who had the celebration with him? Did we get any names from this?)

はい、そうだ。休みと仕事で日本にいる。アーデンさんは日本語が話せますか?私は少し。まだ上手じゃない。

OOC: Though she didn't explicitly say so, I'm going to assume Shadya translates for Lasair.

It's about half an hour into Hassan's monologue. As he begins his story about the politician, everybody except Cludge hears something moving on the steps, a barely audible scrape. Hassan continues talking, he doesn't seem like he heard anything.

Conuld:

Conuld and Gram, with their small entourage, eventually make it to Hayder's house. Gram walks up to the door and calls out in his gruff voice, "Boys? It's me, Gram. Are ye here?" There's a pause, during which Gram beats on the door. Then you see Amir's head poke out of a window. He quickly retreats back inside, and then opens the front door. His brother is behind him. Amir asks if his family is okay.

"Everyone's alright, father's restin' with Rais, and Shadya's out catchin' the scoundrels what done this." Gram looks at Conuld. "These two seem fine. Will ye stay here or come with me?"

OOC: Not sure how much time has passed in game, but I'm assuming that Kurgahz is still escorting the other prisoner to the city gates and is therefore not back yet? Or if enough time has passed, perhaps he could be returning shortly as well?

BTW- good to see you back Rae! :)

OOC: Hmm... I'd say Kurgahz could have returned by now. It's been a while, Shadya had time to leave and come back, and she left at 10 pages. I'd say, yes, Kurgahz has returned.

And thanks, I'm still going to be somewhat sporadic, but things will be uphill from here.

"If you have need of me, I will accompany you, but I think I ought to remain here. Regardless, Amir, I have a task for you and your brother." Conuld unclasps his cloak from his narrow shoulders and holds up the makeshift bag. "I have a cat in here. It is possibly sleeping, or possibly waiting its chance to wreak revenge on me for various indignities. Beneath the dirt of the alleyways, it is a fine animal, long of limb. Some at least of its forebears came from the desert, I think. I wish to keep it, if I can. Will you assist me in calming and gentling it? Some food would go far."

OOC: perhaps a good chance to remove Conuld from the action while I'm away? I can only snatch moments online and keeping up with three games might be difficult.
