The morning is uneventful. The rain appears to be keeping people indoors. Just before lunchtime, the group sees a man leading a mule towards Sharn up ahead.

OOC: SuperZero has not posted at all on the forums since early February, so I'm assuming that he is a no show. There used to be a way to Email people here (as opposed to a private message), but I cannot find it. If he shows back up before any combat, he can join in.

Jayce uses a flame stick to light the tobac. He takes a long first draw as the group walks. He exhales the smoke into the brisk morning air.

"Those professor friends would be in the minority these days. Take our benefactor, Jasper, making a two day journey through a civilized nation and feels the need to bring five sell-swords with him. Perhaps the day for swordsmanship will pass, but we aren't there yet Miss Tana."
"Oh, they're well away of the need for someone to pick up a blade or a wand. They just thought I was one of their favorite students of history or arcane theory, which of course meant I should become a full-time academic." Tana said. "And it has its appeal. But I've seen and done things on the path I'm on that I never would that way, and along the way really helped some people."

"Sounds like you made the right choice then."

Jayce keeps a wary on on the traveler, attempting to look for anything out of sorts, then checks around the group. Having ended up on the disliked list of fugitives did lend to risk of ambush. The rain drizzling off his hat seemed to block too much of his view.

If the man walks past the group, Jayce calls to ask how the road is ahead.

Rava content not to start another religious debate and simply learn a bit about her companions by listening to them, almost misses the man leading a mule back toward Sharn. However, if the roads were as dangerous as their employer said they were, shouldn't he have some kind of escort like Jasper? Perhaps this man had seen something on his way here...

"Excuse me, good sir. I was wondering... did you happen to encounter or see any bandits on the road today on your way here? Our employer here is worried that we will encounter such an obstacle on our way. With the current state of the land, do you not feel the need, also, to have some form of escort?" she asked the man guiding his mule.

"Bandits? No, ain't seen no bandits." the man replies a bit cautiously as the two groups get closer. He pulls his mule further from the well armed group, watching them carefully, the drizzle pooling in his hat and pouring off the side.

Sirrah decides the man is most likely what he seems or a else a decoy. Whatever the truth, he pays the man no more attention and keeps his eyes down the road.

Rava gives a slight curtsey to the man. "Thank you kindly, sir. It's good to know we should be safe on our trip."

Rava's response was spoken carefully, and was somewhat of a ruse to see if she could discern anything of note from the man's expressions as he passed them. If there was anything she knew about people, it was that even when they were doing something wrong, but were good liars, their faces would give them away. Rava was pretty good at reading faces and was pretty confident that she would be able to suss out anything odd about the man's mannerisms, were any there to be seen.

OOC: Does Rava note anything from the man's expressions when she says the group should be safe on their trip?
