adventure idea: sunken tower

Here's my idea:

Step one: Use your pirates, but instead, have them attack the local lighthouse, destroying it, and then fleeing to your watery tower.

Step Two: Show the tower rise up from the water, distant from the shore of the local town (but within sight)

(you could switch one and two, here)

Step Three: Storm breaks. and a big one.

Step Four: If someone can't put up a light near the house (a special "Do not approach" warning light), then an incoming ship will be reefed. This was, of course, the pirates' original goal. And now, as the PCs head to the tower from the sea, the pirates are there to stop a light from being lit

Step Five; Three factions - tentacle creature, pirates, and PCs - are on the new island, each with their own goals. Run to taste.

GOOD IDEAS FOR CRITTERS

* Watery Pseudopods, a la The Abyss
* A place in the tower that mutates critters, and then throwing mutated Dire Rats, Pirates, and Eels at the party.
* Throw a fight on a barnacle-covered rock against flying creatures.
* Chuul. Lots of Chuul.
