[sblock=position] How's about Talos, Tock and Mal broke left when they exited the door and Braddock and Deimos broke right. That would put the three of us along 12 between R and V and the mages between N and P. From there the whole group could head widdershins towards the door to the north on the opposite wall. Probably following Haltor as he heads off.[/sblock]

"Salvage? No interest in the stuff, just the spirits that haunt the place." Talos looks at the rest of the group for confirmation of this statement even as he shifts his hammer to his shoulder.

Mal clances at Talos and shrugs, "Haltor. Gark. This was your job before we got roped in. You let us know what you need. If this lot needs killing, it'll be done." His tone doesn't suggest this is a threat or an attempt at intimidation. He's just stating a fact: if necessary, these hobgoblins are dead.

OOC: Stonegod had Gark pegged. I'm totally fine with his position.

Gark's eye glints as he sees the ambush start and his hand grips his weapon tightly - but then the hobgoblin's words cause him to pause.

Looking back at the others, Gark nods at Talos and Mal's words and then turns to face the ambushers, speaking clearly. "We are here for the one tampering with an ancient evil. We're not really concerned with spoils, but you should be worried about a powerful wizard who is attempting to activate this place. His creations don't distinguish friend from foe."

OOC: Gark is trying to feel this person out to see what side she's on. So r1, this hobby is the boss of the guy that we let loose earlier? He didn't seem to indicate that his troop was in league with the big bad guy (we only fought them because they ambushed us).

Everyone: I/Gark is fine with skipping hostilities if we can just all agree to walk away; time seems to be pressing and these guys are just a waste of our abilities in Gark's opinion. They may even be willing to fight against our collective enemy, but I'm not going to push my luck on that one just yet. However, if it comes down to a battle, we do have a serious height advantage on them, as well as access to the exits - seems weird to ambush from the bottom of a pit. They may be either desperate or possibly just recently got into this room.

"Oh really... why don't you tell us all about this wizard my good shifter" the female replies.

[sblock=Gark]
Yes this is the boss he described. [/sblock]

Haltor rubbed the bridge between his eyes, tired of hobgoblin arrogance. Not a wizard... a maker of magic, of the house of the smiths. An shade of a fickle nature, sometime friend then quickly foe. A creature whose help and assistance cannot be trusted, and believe, in madness, to be one of the living. If you are in league with him, it can only end in sorrow for you, and not due to any act of ours.

The halfling adjusts White-Eye to eye the woman directly. Look. We are both warriors. Ours are not the ways of magical chicanery, and promises made and broken. Grim experiments are the mark of these halls from what we have seen. House Cannith is already alerted; is their ire and the dangers of that which is still here worth it?

"Funny you mention Cannith, of course the're alerted, how in the name of the Dragon Below do you think we knew about this place? We are both warriors, and we (pointing to the goblinoids) were hired to fulfill a contract and we mean to see it through." she asks with a chuckle.

And are you so certain your employer will uphold their end of the bargain? Much cheaper otherwise, once they get what they want.

Ooc: Insight to determine of the job has any doubts we may exploit.... Not with that roll.

"Ain't that always the way with the Houses, although you gotta be thinking the same thing yourselves. Now what you really gotta ask yourself little one, really think about this one. How in the hells did your new friends get here so conviently? Maybe its cheaper for them to get rid of you too" the hobgoblin replies
