Affect of a 3,000ft cliff on the landscape

If there is much real estate on top, you're going to get katabatic winds - the colder air falling off the top is gonna set up some vicious airflows up top and on the bottom (a 3,000 fall will impart a lot of momentum, even to something as light as air). You might find looking into discusions of weather on Mars pertinent - the land-form you're descrbing (or something very like it) probably exists there.

Since it sounds more like a big stone curtain than a plateau, and you have it aligned noth-south, the interesting thing is going to be the shadow it casts. All moring one side ot the wall is going to be soaking up heat, while the other side is in shade for extra hours each day, then at local noon it's going to flip flop. That uneven heating is also going to drive massive wind flows - your mountains are going to breathe.
