Ah, yes, Rathan and Vertexx69 were the other two. And thanks for resurrecting the old threads for me Thanee. Chances are this time around I will provide an opening introduction with background on why you are there then begin the adventure in the dungeon, unless the players want to roleplay the interview with Jallarzi. That might depend on how many repeat players we have.

And Rathan, a simple rogue build would be fine. It will fill the role of the specialist/skills expert. The party will still need a divine caster, arcane caster, and a primary combatant. I might be willing to experiment with a less diverse party, but just knowing the types of things you need to prepare for in this adventure leads me to believe it would be tempting fate. I've seen some other ideas bandied about. Anyone else settled on a particular build?

I'd prefer to fill the arcane caster role, as I play too many clerics as it is at the moment. But if someone has their heart set on it, I could play a meat shield type.

Another note: I won't be using the same weapon durability rules from last time. Probably don't need that level of minutiae. But I will ad-lib it a bit. Things like attacking monsters with DR you can't bypass, things with hardness, and so forth are likely to deal damage to your weapons. Repairing them is relatively simple, especially with access to 6th-level spells, just try to use your head and don't abuse your weapons so they don't break. Abuse, e.g. hacking down a 5-foot section of wall with your sword.

I don't mind playing the cleric, but I don't generally play them as heal-bots.

airwalkrr, is there a setting for this game? Greyhawk, FR, complete Generic? Just wondering for putting together character background info and such.

It shall be Greyhawk, and it shall be old school.

The actual setting won't matter much since you'll be spending the vast majority of your time in a big ole' dungeon figuring out puzzles, exploring dark depths, killing monsters and taking their stuff. But there are some tie-ins to the Greyhawk setting in the adventure. They'll be fun if you like Greyhawk.

Well, between the three of us (Rhun, Vertexx, me) we should be able to figure out who gets to play which archetype, although Vertexx will probably be sad to see that his powergaming might be nerfed a bit with the restrictions. ;)

Sound good. Mainly I just wanted to know for writing background info for a PC...by 12th level, especially old school Greyhawk, a PC is probably fairly well known.

I started work on a 12th level cleric, but if somebody else is set on that role, I'm fine with coming up with something else.
