I know I can only catch one arrow per round, but it was the concept that was fun.

And a cleric build with it might be cool, never thought to use divine with it. What about any PrCl that require divine spells instead of arcane? or just archery in general? I can just take practiced spellcaster if I have to

I mean, if you are using Core + Completes, than in *general* the best Archer is a Cleric--ignoring that PrC entirely. Sure, if you've got the second set of completes, than a Swift Hunter might be okay, but an Archer Cleric is still, you know, a Cleric, and thus able to do pretty much anything...

Really, if you want to not get hit by arrows, there are lots of spells for that, and if you want to make arrows that cast spells, there is, you know, spellstoring arrows.

Anyway, if you want to use Arcane Archer as a Ranged Gish type, than:

Bard 7/ Fighter 1/ Arcane Archer 2/ Sublime Chord 2/ Abjurant Champion 5/ Sacred Exorcist 3

Is an okay build.

As a rule, you only want the first two levels.

Fighter1/Wizard9/Arcane Archer2/Wizard8
Fighter1/Wizard5/Eldritch Knight3/Arcane Archer 2/Eldritch Knight7/Archmage2

are some ways of getting into Arcane Archer via wizard, but I've always felt that you become a subpar archer and worse caster going that route. It may be better to use Arcane Archer on a character that has spellcasting as a secondary ability, like the bard.

Fighter1/Bard8/AA2/EK9 works decently, for an archer. Worse spells, but there's still some decent ones available. Grease, Glitterdust, Silence... er... and maybe others?

Hm. You know, since Arcane Archer only requires you to cast 1st level spells, you could go Cleric1/Wizard1/Cleric7/AA2/Cleric9 since Imbue Arrow doesn't specify that you have to use arcane spells on it...

That is true about imbue arrows not needing arcane spells...

Not RAW but IMC I gave the AA archer augmented spellcasting at each even level in exchange for the good reflex save the build is elven fighter5/Wizard2/AA3.
You can try this or look at the Pathfinder AA.
I agree with above: if you keep it RAW it's very weak.

I love Pathfinder's version. We had one in the campaign I DM at NKU. Sadly enough this player loves getting his characters killed off so he didn't last very long.
